Gr 6 Up- In a style that's as busy as the CosmoGIRL! Web site and the popular teen magazine by the same name, this book is overflowing with workout options and great-looking teenage girls. It begins with a five-question quiz to determine one's style, followed by a few pages of brief workouts to match the quiz results. Next comes a stretching series. Their placement is confusing, as both come before chapter one. Workout routines take up the rest of the book. The four sections-mind-body connection, cardio workouts, toning moves, and workouts for all occasions (misspelled in the table of contents)-are filled with a variety of routines created by established trainers and teachers, but often it's hard to see why a routine is in one section and not in another. Photographs are clear and colorful (though more of them would make some of the moves easier to follow) and instructions are brief but informative. Some exercises refer readers to the Web site for instructions (these look very much like the photos in the book). While filled with many exercise options, there aren't enough of any one kind to create a well-rounded routine. Many exercises, especially those using weight machines, ought to be taught in person or at least via video, as doing some of them can be dangerous if done incorrectly. The book misses the chance to explain the value of taking a class, getting medical advice, warming up, and cooling down.     love it !!!!

    i got this book last night after getting fed up with my mom nagging me about not being fit, not being in shape, and getting of my booty.. So i went to barnes and noble and got this.. Ten bucks and i already see results from last nights late night work out.. they have the basics pushups, crunches and squats but all in different variations. The book begins with stretches that increase your flexibility and stretch your muscles out for the workout.. the section also covers toning, yoga, hiking and running. At the bottom of most pages are tips and tricks like what to eat, (it tells you how you can eat chocolate the next sections are the fun ones.. Cardio workouts include moves from broadway, moves to do to punk music, bollywood dancing, kickboxing and reggaeton dance moves.. The toning section has a weight machine tutorial, core strengthening work outs, ab work out(i did that last night and i already see a flatness that wasn't there yesterday afternoon), boxing, how to work out before getting out of bed, leg workouts, how to get jennifer anistons arms, beyonce's legs and butt, and jessica alba's abs- straight from their trainer. The next section is my favorite. it has work outs plans that extend for four months, plans that are specifically for looking good in your prom dress, theres different workouts for different dresses, bathing suit boot camp and workouts to make your jeans look good on you.. every workout has pictures of what to do, and most have pictures of how NOT to do it.. alot of things require equiptment but can be easily accessed (tennis ball, weights, tape etc etc) anyway this is an amazing book for teenage girls out there who are bored of the gym and want to get fit while having fun and looking great.. I highly recommend it

    First off, I ahve to say that the review before mine did a great

    First off, I ahve to say that the review before mine did a great job of covering everything the book offers - I absolutely love this book! I'm 20, and I've become very passionate about exercise the past couple years, and I think this book is great - I want to try almost all of the routines, and the layout is very visually appealing. I use some of the moves to create my own routine, but I do intend to follow some of the actual plans, like the 4-month one. I also love that there are several yoga routines. The cardio routines look fun; I like that there is a variety - several dance ones, kickboxing, and even one based on cheerleading! I've been doing exercises from the book for the past two weeks, and I feel it - I personally love feeling sore after a workout, and the moves from this book make that happen. This book is wonderful - I recommend it to any teens and young adults who are interested in fitness!

    Best book ever!!!!!

    I just absolutely love this book. It has so many great excersice plans it's hard to choose. They got workouts for everybody, even if your not a huge fan of excersice they still have some pretty fun workouts. I use this book all the time and I highly recommend it!
