Imagine is you will, sitting in the upper circle of a theatre, waiting for the curtain to go up. The play is The Importance of Being Ernest and there is a full house, at least a thousand theatre-goers. This means you are looking down on about five hundred women, all dressed in their finest. Statistically, at least a hundred of them will have been subjected to domestic violence. As the curtain has not moved, you while away the time by wondering exactly which women have been hit, punched, and worse.
