Children's Literature - Sharon Salluzzo
How to channel the excitement of the coming of Christmas and make the time meaningful is the focus of this title. As parents count the days from December 1st to the 25th they can read a small portion of the Christmas story each day, make a craft with their children, have the children write a thank you to God for something special, and then read a short bible verse. In a message to parents at the beginning of the book, it is suggested that by using this book the family can share with their children that "the birth of God's Son is the reason we celebrate." Each of the crafts uses inexpensive items easily found around the house. Many are made from paper, such as chains, pictures of angels, and tree ornaments. Adding to the story of the birth of Christ each day is a fine way to channel the anticipation of Christmas Day. Having children write their "Dear God" notes offers them a way to reflect on the season of giving. Some of the crafts are stronger ideas than others, but this still offers some suggestions to Bible School teachers. The illustrations show happy children with their friends preparing for Christmas. This will be helpful to families that would like to simplify their approach to Christmas and emphasize the "giving" and religious aspects of the holiday. Reviewer: Sharon Salluzzo

Even though this is a board book, it's not just for toddlers. My 4- and 6-year-old sons really enjoy it. The book contains 25 short daily readings (related to the true meaning of Christmas, not Santa) with a corresponding Bible verse and a kids' activity. I haven't found anything I like better!

So much of Christmas, has nothing to do with Christmas.  I found this book delightful.  It keeps the focus not only on Christmas but on God and His love for us without being preachy.  This could serve well as a bedtime story book.  Toddlers can  understand and enjoy it, and frist and second graders should  be able to read it themselves
