Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
The countdown here includes school supplies, a seven-o-clock wake-up, and the number of juice boxes. The number three signifies the nametags on the triplets, and number one is for the school bell that can be seen swinging from the roof of the school. Wide-eyed, smiley multiethnic children are found in the four houses on this block. The illustrations are serviceable. It bothered me that with the number eight, the school supply list leaves off the "e" on glue next to the little girl's finger. The four-line rhyming verse on each double-page spread will not stimulate the imagination. Excitement does not build here. This seems to simply be a list of what to do to prepare for the first day of school. Actually going to get the supplies is a lot more fun than reading this book. 2003, Price Stern Sloan/Penguin Young Readers Group, Ages 3 to 6.
