Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Michelle Sinclair Colman's sequel to last year's Urban Babies Wear Black, Country Babies Wear Plaid, illus. by Nathalie Dion, takes readers through a checklist of what "country babies" do, from rising at dawn to eating heartily. Brimming with brightly colored paintings, this board book will set rural babies down the right track. Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Like its companion, Urban Babies Wear Black, this board book highlights sights and activities found in a rural environment. The scenery shows vast open spaces, fresh foods—apples off the tree—kids playing in the dirt, and the baby sitting on a dock with a fishing rod (although that would be a bit of a stretch since the baby would not be likely to sit still and remain safe). While its goal is to inform and educate, it may actually serve to reinforce stereotyping.

Highly Recommended - along with other books from this author

I give these books to my friends as gifts all the time.
They always love them, plus the children do too!
They are fun to read and the children love the illustrations and love to read them once they learn to read also!

I also recommend the baby bood as a gift for the shower! (For the non-traditional mother!)
