Jeanette Stroh launched her cooking career at the age of three when she enhanced her brother's prized butterfly collection by mixing it into a jar of peanut butter. Her passion for food led her to baking for local retailers, and finally to Jeanette's Country Cooking, the catering business she ran for over 20 years. Jeanette's reputation for hearty country cooking reached from Mendocino County, 150 miles south to San Francisco. Her barbecued tri-tip roasts, homemade pies, and tasty appetizers never failed to satisfy her customers. This compilation of 206 of Jeanette's best country recipes was assembled and tested by Jeanette's daughter, Debbie Reardan.

    This cookbook is terrific!

I made several of the recipes from this book for a family get-together. They were all a hit, and so was I! I now must bring Jeanette's famous "Garlic Dip" to every potluck, or else. Not only are the recipes great, but the book itself is a good read. Also, it is beautifully illustrated and well-constructed with a spiral binding so it lies flat. This is the perfect legacy for Jeanette, a great cook and caterer, and a wonderful person. Good job Debbie!

PS: This book makes a great Christmas gift, too! (Even if the recipient isn't a cook, the book will look great on their bookshelf.)
