All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Any serious fan of Robbins will find the set an essential addition to their library, and it is arguably the finest Robbins box Bear Family has released.

    Marty Robbins- a unique talent

Marty Robbins was quite simply a unique talent. If he hadn't made it in the Country field he would have made it in the Pop field. Allied to his great song writing ability his magnificent vocals embellished by his wonderful heart on sleeve approach made him arguably the greatest vocalist ever to grace Country music. This album includes hits like 'Devil Woman', 'Don't Worry', 'Ribbon of Darkness' 'The Shoe goes on the other foot tonight' and 'Cigarettes and Coffee Blues.' Scratch below the surface and find some wonderful versions of 'Long Long Ago', 'No one will ever know', 'Just before the battle mother' and 'Beautiful Dreamer.' This box set is quality all the way, but then you wouldn't expect anything else from Marty Robbins.
