All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
The soundtrack to the Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw country music drama Country Strong is a collection of mainstream contemporary country that has a mild pop bent but stays just this side of country-pop. Instead, it follows the blueprint of its star, McGraw, and the early work of his wife Faith Hill, delivering a collection of crisp, clean, and melodic country where the Hank Williams, Jr. cameo is used as rowdy flavoring. If Paltrow never quite sounds convincing as a country singer -- she seems just a little to mannered to be "Country Strong" -- Gossip Girl Leighton Meester pulls off the sweet "Words I Couldn't Say" with ease, and the rest of the soundtrack is ...

Loved the Movie! Loved the Album!

I love country music. Its one of my favorite kinds of music ever. I was listening to the songs way before I ever watched the movie, and I loved the movie just as much as the album. I must say, I'm a big fan of Gwyneth Paltrow now. Not just for her great sound on the album, but also for her acting in the movie, and on Glee which I watch every episode of. My favorites on this album are Me and Tennesee, Coming Home, and Country Strong. I also enjoy Garret's voice. And Leighton's version of the Rascal Flatts song "Words I Couldnt Say." All the other songs are good too. :) Great album overall.

    Women Only

Skip all the tracks by men. They are too retro C&W and borderline corny. All the women are terrific including Paltrow. Her "Country Strong" sounds like the Chicks and "Shake that Thing" is pure Gretchen Wilson.
