A great book for small projects.

This book has 19 different small projects using 5" squares. The mixture of styles was appealing. The instructions are concise and helpful. The photography and color choices are appealing. A good choice for a gift.

    Great way to use scraps

I was very excited when I began reading this book. Our guild has accumulated a "horde" of scraps! They fill a Hefty XXL bag and we were wondering what exactly to do with them. This book answers that question!

With the 19 patterns and some background fabric, we can create to our hearts content. No fabric left unused! We have quilters from those just starting out to those who have only quilted for a year or two. The patterns allow for this range of expertise.

Our beginning quilters can do such patterns as WALK-DON'T RUN and never have to worry about matching block colors. Even the "stripe" can be different colors. USE A NAPKIN is one that the quilter who has had a couple of years stitching could do. Again, with a basic background color, each square can be a different piece of fabric.

BREAK YOUR BREAD, DON'T CUT IT and WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE YOU EAT are both patterns that are created by simple stitching without having to plan too much. These are the types of patterns our less experienced quilters enjoy making because they look so good without being extremely complicated. DON'T BREAK BREAD IN YOUR SOUP, EAT SOUP WITH THE SIDE OF YOUR SPOON and DRESS FOR SUCCESS will be good patterns for our more experienced quilters as they will require a bit of planning to bring off.

None of these patterns are extremely complicated which makes it a perfect book for a guild. The materials lists are clear and the cutting list is easy to follow. There are sufficient graphics to follow along with the written word. Also, each pattern has a "tip" in a colored box to offer you more ideas on how to complete the quilt. All in all, this book is going to be well worn when our guild gets through making quits from it.
