Retailers Choice Award winner, 2012
From the creators of Fireproof comes an inspiring new story about everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children. As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners willingly stand up to the worst the world can offer. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they’re quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark.
They know that God desires to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, but their children are beginning to drift farther and farther away from them. Will they be able to find a way to serve and protect those who are most dear to them? When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God . . . and to their children?

    Highly Recommended

One of the best novels I have ever read. A must read for parents, especially fathers. Don't wait until it's too late. See for yourself now how you can make a difference in your child's life.

I thought I heard there was a female version of this book. I'd love to read that.

    Great story, great message!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was impressed with how the Author gave great guidance to men, husbands, and fathers. It was interesting getting to know the characters in the book and how their lives were very relatable. The turmoil within the characters' lives was realistic which helped me to relate to these characters. I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it to others!! I also was able to find a SUPER deal on this book...it was FREE for one day and I snagged it!! What a DEAL!!!

    Love this Book!

I rented this book from my library last year when it was released & bought it again on my tablet a few months ago. This book is based on the movie Courageous & expresses the duties of men in the force, the responsibility of fathers, the effects of trauma & depression, strength of family, importance of purity, etc. It is a great family book & the characters are so real & vivid, you feel the struggle & triumph. I laughed, I cried, I prayed, & I felt every adrenaline-filled moment. This book is a thriller, which keeps you hooked. Another plus is it reveals the heart of our Father through comfort and grace. A must read you won't be able to put down! You won't be disappointed by amazing author Randy Alcorn & the directors of the movie, Alex & Stephen Kendrick. From the men who brought you Fireproof, enjoy Courageous, & stand up & lead.

    Great book, good movie

I was very impressed with this book. The characters are well-developed and believable, as are the circumstances on which they find themselves. The story has enough humor to break up the pathos, is moving and compelling.
I watched the movie right after reading the book, and was struck more by the differences (some characters completely written out), than by anything else. I feel the book tells the story and delivers the message better than the movie, which I also enjoyed.

Excellent movie - Honoring to God and challenging to men!

This movie is simultaneously uplifting and challenging. It exalts God in His sovereignty and confronts men who are unwilling to take a stand for what is true, good and right. Where are you men of courage? Refuse to stand idly by while the moral foundation of your family and country crumbles beneath your feet. Take a stand for your families; for your wife and your children by taking a courageous stand for God!

    Good book

I've seen the movie and read the book and both of them were good. I like the ideas that the book discusses. It really makes you think about what it means to be part of a family.
