Barnes & Noble - Dave Gil de Rubio
Mandy Moore has always been more modest than her pop-tart peers. And in a career move that sets her further apart from bare-all blondes Britney, Jessica, and Christina, the currently brunette Moore released Coverage, where she sinks her impressive chops into sophisticated cover tunes by artists as diverse as Carole King, Blondie, Elton John, and Todd Rundgren. Teaming with producer John Fields (Andrew W.K.) and accompanied by an assortment of alt-pop backup musicians including members of Jellyfish, X, and Semisonic, Moore easily shifts gears from a sweeping reading of the Waterboys' "The Whole of the Moon" to an airier treatment of Joni Mitchell's "Help Me." Mandy Moore has always been more modest than her pop-tart peers. Teaming with producer John Fields (Andrew W.K.) and accompanied by an assortment of alt-pop backup musicians including members of Jellyfish, X, and Semisonic, Moore easily shifts gears from a sweeping reading of the Waterboys' "The Whole of the Moon" to an airier treatment of Joni Mitchell's "Help Me." Some moments of daring don't fare quite so well, such as the hint of a DJ scratching and subtle electronica beats that creep into her karaoke-like cover of Carole King's "I Feel the Earth Move," but this 19-year-old pop princess doesn't sound out of her league as she throws herself wholeheartedly into Joan Armatrading's "Drop the Pilot," peppered with pounding piano and crackling guitar. Moore's feathery upper register also fits perfectly on an acoustic guitar–kissed interpretation of Cat Stevens' "Moonshadow" and on John Hiatt's pleading "Have a Little Faith in Me," complete with a horn-and-keyboard arrangement that suggests Van Morrison. With Coverage, Mandy Moore confidently strides towards young womanhood without having to shed any garments.

    Mandy is terrific!

Mandy just made nice versions of other artists' songs. The songs were fun to hear. The ones I loved to listen to were Can we still be friends, Have a little faith in me, I feel the earth move, and Help me. This turned out great to listen to than the Wilson Phillips' California when they sang the history of California songs in the 1960s and in the 1970s. Mandy's Coverage is better than that.

    manfy moore

Mandy moore has changed a lot. I liked her better singing pop, but a least she's not becoming like Britney spears.

Best Mandy Moore cd !! You won't be disappointed!!!

I love this cd. She covered a great bunch of songs that are catchy and have great lyrics. This cd is definitely more mature and different than her other cds, but I think she made a really great change in her music. "Coverage" is definitely mandy's best effort yet. Buy it NOW!!! You'll love it!!!

    Great Album

This album is great. I can't believe how mature Mandy's voice sounds! What a great idea to redo old songs! The only reason this album was 4 stars is because some of the songs are kind of droopy. Go Mandy Moore!

She can sing, she can act,she can host..she's a natural! This album..at forst the thought of buying it didnt occur me coz i thought it would just be another typical cover album. But..i bought it nonetheless bcopz im a fan of her. And it's unbelievably great!!! I can't get off of it! It's unexpectable and very full of life, energy! YEah..mandy rocks!! =D

    A genuine delight

I had the pleasure of meeting Mandy after winning a radio contest in my town of Columbia, South Carolina, and could not be happier. I have never been one to be star stuck, and frankly had never heard of her. This was in 1999, and at the time of her first release. I was floored. She has talent, unlike her 'peers', and use that term loosely, because all they use is their ability to use their body instead of their voice. Mandy has a gift, and one we all can, and should enjoy.

    Mandy Moore is Awesome

Mandy Moore is a great singer. I wasn't a big fan of her preceeding albums, but this album of tracks is great. She has such a rich, beautiful voice that definately wins over Britney Spears' nasal singing. Britney and XXXtina may have to resort to sleazy photo shoots to get attention, but Mandy clearly has morals AND a great voice. Go girl! I personally wasn't all that attracted to the album at first, mostly because it contains "old" songs. I am 15 years old, and listening to the songs my parents like doesnt exactly appeal to me. But these songs are actually great, and I love the way Mandy picked ones nobody would expect. I suggest you run out and buy this album! The best song is "Have a Little Faith in Me"

    Mandy Moore's At It Again

Mandy Moore is talented, we knew that ever since her first album. Her voice has a certain "shh" in it's tone that makes her sound like seh's whispering loudly - a complete gorgoues effect that only she can pull off. But what ever happened to the candy girl who occasionally gets crushes on people who don't like her back? Though this CD holds as much musical quality as her other albums, it also holds a lot of change in the girl's character as an artist. If you hate chage: don't buy this. Otherwise this is a great CD for those who like to see that young bubble-gum pop stars can actually make something great of their talent.

    Pleasantly surprised

After having heard Mandy Moore on a local radio interview about the debut of this revived compilation of some 70s wonder hits, I was curious to see how different this work of art would be compared to her previous albums. I am not long-standing fan of hers, but absolutely loved listening to just the samples provided on this site. She has a rich voice that makes you want to just sing along with her. After hearing the samples, I HAD to add this selection to my holiday wish list. Maybe you will too, so check this out if you haven't yet!

    Coverage

This has got to be Mandy moore's best work yet. She's a great Singer but it seemed like she needed to find the right style for her. I think she's got it now.
