Cowboy's Way by Cathryn Fox

Sports medicine doctor and weekend cowboy, Chase Cooper, is ready to settle down, and he’s beginning to wonder if his best friend from high school, Mari Blair, could be the one that got away.  Coop and his buddies have come up with a plan, but he never imagined it would be Mari’s sister, Julia—the girl who was always off-limits—, who would take him up on his invitation.

When lawyer, Julia Blair, finds herself on a dude ranch half way across the country, only to discover the invitation was meant for her vivacious twin sister, she knows she has two choices—go home alone or walk a day in her sister’s shoes. When she sets eyes on sexy cowboy Chase Cooper, the choice becomes easy. She's determined to stay and have some carefree fun while at the ranch.

Coop can’t believe the mix up, but when he discovers Julia wants to play, then play they will. When things get steamy and playtime becomes so much more, he’s determined to prove she’s the girl for him. And he’s not above using a few tricks of the trade to get his point across…

A quick and sexy read, though the resolution was a bit rushed. This would have worked well as a longer book, or at least more time taking place between Julia getting off the plane and the "I love you"s at the end. Still, it was an enjoyable story with likable characters--perfect for a lazy afternoon. I'm definitely interested in seeing how the same week plays out for Coop's two friends, Mac and Jag.

"I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I love cowboy stories. And I love the old unrequited love stories. This book had both. The one who got away. The one who was loved from afar. It was very sweet to learn that Coop and Julia liked each other from afar when they were younger but never acted on their feelings. It was intriguing to see these three macho cowboys want to get back with the one who got away. I love seeing the realization a cowboy has when they finally want to settle down. The chemistry between Coop and Julia was intense yet gentle tender at the same time. It was good to see Julia come out of her shell and go for what she wanted. And Coop just steals your heart in this story, with his vulnerable side. Would love to see what happens with Mac and Jag."

Ok, ya’ll, the insides are just as sexy as the outside! Cowboy’s Way is a quick, steamy read about second chances and is the first in what looks to be a hot hot hot series. I adored these two together – both had a thing for the other back in school but because Coop was best friends with Julia’s sister it meant she was off-limits. But now there is nothing stopping them from seeing where their attraction could go.

At under 100 pages, Cowboy’s Way might not be very big but it has a lot of passion and tenderness packed into that little bitty package. It’s the perfect book to take along when you think you might have a little extra time to read – it’ll go fast but be prepared to not want to put it down … and to be looking for more. - Full review available at Romantic Reads and Such on wordpress or Booktrib's website.

So enjoyable! This was my second read from this line but my first book by this author, and I am hooked. Chase Cooper was a very likeable hero. He surrounded himself with his two best friends since Kindergarten, and he took care of his mother who was suffering from Alzheimer’s by buying the ranch to keep her in familiar surroundings. He was a hard worker and wasn’t shy about admitting his flaws. But along with having his hands full, he felt lonely. That was when the thought of “the one that got away” entered his mind.

I felt sorry for the heroine, Julia Blair. Her relationship with her identical twin sister, Mari, appeared to be intact, but I got the feeling she never quite got out from behind her sister’s shadow. They may have been identical in looks, but personality wise they were complete opposites. Where Mari was outgoing and made friends easily, Julia was the studious, more introverted one. The fact that Mari was best friends with the handsome but arrogant jock, the very same who never seemed to notice Julia, was just another reason to feel slighted. I have to say I rather enjoyed that underlying tension throughout the story.

Even though Julia firmly believed that Coop had wanted Mari there instead of her, I liked that she allowed herself to live in the moment. She did overthink a few situations but recovered nicely on her own. I felt the chemistry between them mainly because of Coop’s known desire and Julia’s little bout of jealousy. The story moved quickly but not unrealistically. After their first (and second) round of intimacy, the relationship developed off page over the course of five days. Speaking of intimacy, the love scenes were hot! For such a short story, perhaps the back-to-back coupling in detail was a little bit much but no less enjoyable. I’ll always point out how appreciative I am for the lack of over the top drama. While there were hurdles, they seemed true to the main characters’ personalities.

If you want a quick, steamy, well-written story, definitely pick up this book.

I enjoyed this short, but was left wanting more. It felt like the introduction to the story and went by too quickly.

I thought Julia changed from being shy and nervous to going after Coop too quickly (although it is a short story so I guess they can't drag it out too long). It just seemed like she would be a little more resistant to the whole idea of being interchangeable with her twin sister.

I liked that she included his mother who has Alzheimers into the story. It gave us a glimpse of Coop's human side and also why he does what he does.

I felt like there were some things that just didn't get tied up at the end. I wanted to know things like how Julia's sister felt about the situation and how Julia and Coop would be together once they left the ranch and went back to reality.

This cover is extra hot so you have the right imagine of this book. It’s a tiny story and leaves a good plot for a series, this is my first Cathryn Fox novella, so I didn’t knew at first what to expect but I loved Coop! Julia took some time to warm up on me, but Coop was perfect. The romance was nice and they were already halfway in love so things jumped fast into the happily ever after land. Coop and Julia made a cute couple and now I want to see the rest of the gang, especially Jag.

    3.5 Stars
I read Cathryn Fox's novella Hold Me Down Hard a while back and really enjoyed it, so when I saw that she had another novella, Cowboy's Way, coming out under Entangled Publishing's new Flaunt Imprint I couldn't wait to read it.  There is just something about cowboys that sucks me right in, especially sexy ones, which is just what you find in Cowboys' Way.  The story takes place on a dude ranch in Springvale Alberta, which is owned by Chase Cooper and his two best friends since high school, Jagger and Mac, all of whom have successful careers back in Nova Scotia.  These hotties love to come to the ranch, get away, and be cowboys as often as they can.  All three are players and have been since high school, yet one night while talking in the saloon at the ranch, they realize they are all looking for something more than a one-night stand, and begin reminiscing about their high school days and the "one that got away" girls from that time.  They cook up the idea of finding and anonymously inviting these three girls to an all expense paid week at the dude ranch and then surprising them upon their arrival.  Chase invites his best friend in high school, Mari Blair, though there was never anything romantic that took place between them. He secretly always had a crush on her twin sister Julia, but considered her off limits and never acted upon it in high school.

Needless to say he is more than happy when there is a mix up and he sees Julia is the one who gets off the plane and not Mari.  Now he just has to talk her into staying, try to win her over, and then convince her that it is her he wants and not her sister, a fact that Julia finds hard to believe.  With chemistry that is electrifying these two find themselves having the best week and best sex of their lives, but they also discover that there may be more to it that just casual fun, if they are willing to take a chance and let each other in.  Chase has his secrets and Julia has her insecurities and misconceptions, but both have to decide if love will win them over in the end.  Cowboy's Way is the perfect short, sexy read that provides you with a blast of steam, a great little romance, and yes, a hot sexy cowboy in the mix.  I really enjoyed it.

A great start to what I hope will be a Great series! The premise is easy.. 3 cowboys inviting the one's who got away.. only this guy invited who he thought got away.. but he really wished for the sister. low and behold she shows up.. and so much goes on from there! She hit my heart both with the Cowboy and the inclusion of someone with Alzheimers.. Having my own Cowboy and having taken care of my grandmother with Alzheimers she hit my heart in 2 places :)

It's a fast read, so not as developed as some books, but its definitely has hot and steamy parts along with a nice story line. Cathryn Fox did it again for me. She dragged me into the story and made it where I couldn't put the book down until I read it all. I can't wait to see where the other cowboy's stories take us!

Originally given 3.5 hearts at Rookie Romance.

I really enjoyed this little novella. I loved the idea of the 'weekend cowboys' inviting their high school crushes to their ranch, to see what might have been. It's a great idea for a series, and I'm already looking forward to Jag and mac's stories.

Coop was seriously hot, like....wow. He's got the whole cowboy thing working to his advantage, as well. We don't get to know Coop particularly well, but I liked what I knew.
Julia is a straight-laced lawyer, who's always seen as the sensible, smart twin. She's mortified when she turns up at the ranch, just to find out that the invite was meant for her twin sister, Mari. Julia may be sensible on the surface, but it was great watching Coop bring out her passionate, fun side. I'm also a sucker for a book where the quiet girl gets the guy!

They had a combustible and instantaneous chemistry. They always had crushes on each other in high school- although neither of them knew that! The sex scenes in the book had me fanning myself, and that scene in the barn was hot, hot, HOT!

Aside from the scorching chemistry, they have a sweet romance. Of course the transition from lust to love was very hasty, but it is a novella. It's very enjoyable, and I loved the setting. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

ARC received for an honest review
Chase Cooper has his sights set on Mari Blair, he decides that it’s time to settle down and Mari is the person that he decides to settle with. There is a mix up in plans and Mari’s sister, Julia Blair is the one that ends up at the dude ranch with the sexy doctor/cowboy Chase Cooper. When Julia receives a mysterious note in the middle of the night she is not sure how to react but realizes that her quiet lifestyle needs a change.
Chase is shocked when he discovers that Julia is the one at the dude ranch and not Mari, but both decide that even though it was not what they planned on they are going to make the best of the situation. Chase realizes that he’s thought Julia was the right girl for him all along but she never gave him the time of day and seemed very disinterested in him. When Julia realizes that the invitation was meant for her sister she is ready to leave but Chase convinces her to stay until the next flight out and enjoy the ranch.
This was a very cute story. I really liked that both Chase and Julia were nervous about getting to know each other. They reminisce about their time together in high school and start to get to really know each other. Julia is bothered by the mix-up but when Chase finds her out for a swim and asks her for company, Julia can’t resist.
This was a short but incredibly sweet story about how Julia and Chase finally find their way to each other. What started out as a mix up ends up as a perfect love story.

Are you looking for a hot, sexy novella? Then look no further than Cowboy's Way by Cathryn Fox. To begin with, the cover is alluring and enticing. Secondly, the main characters, attorney Julia Blair and sports doctor and part-time cowboy, Chase Cooper, are likeable, real and have a ton of chemistry. Lastly, I believe the secondary characters will make great follow-up stories.

Julia and Cooper have known each other since high school. In fact during that time, Cooper was best friend's with Julia's funny and outgoing sister, Mari, even they both secretly crushed on one another. Now years later, Cooper and his two buddies are feeling nostalgic and decide to contact the women that "got away" for a chance of happiness.

Julia arrives at Cooper's ranch completely bewildered. She knows that Cooper was expecting Mari, not the quiet, conservative Julia. As luck would have it, Julia is one who Cooper really wants.

A relationship develops along with some scorching sex. I just loved how Julia and Cooper came together, while slowly sharing their secrets with one another. If you are looking for a quick-paced, well-written, sexy novella, give this book a shout.

It's a bummer to be mistaken for your supemodel twin sister but Julia Blair decides to make the best of it.

Chase Cooper thinks about the "one that got away" and it thrilled when she shows up instead of her twin sister, his former best friend.

Chase and his friends decide to reach out to the "ones that got away" except Chase sends an invitation to his former best friend Mari when it's really her twin sister Julia that he's been in love with all these years. By a twist of fate it's Julia that steps off the plane at Chase's weekend ranch and he can't believe his lucky stars.

Cowboy's Way is a novella that packs a lot into it. Chase and Julia both has crushes on each other way back in high school and that attraction hasn't died. The chemistry between them was hot and instant and oh so enjoyable. In the end I felt like I knew Julia a little bit better than Chase even though Julia spent a good part of the book "acting" like her sister but overall it was a great read and I look forward to reading what happened to the other couples as well.
