Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
This is indeed a silly rhyme. The cows have invaded the house of Tom Farmer. The cows are in the kitchen cooking, eating, and generally appear to be having a good time. In the next scene, the ducks are washing up the dishes and then we find that the cats and dogs are in the cupboard. Sheep have fun in the shower while the pigs are rooting around in the greenhouse. Finally, Tom Farmer chases them all away. The rhyme offers an opportunity to name the animals and mimic their sounds. The holes on the pages give a sneak preview of what is happening next, but it would take a fairly sophisticated toddler to figure it all out. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
