Editorial Reviews

Marilyn Stasio
...a whimsical parody ... Applying his peculiar brand of twisted logic to the case, Stanley has some droll exchanges with a literal-minded cop and catches the killer with a trick worthy of Miss Marple.
Publishers Weekly
Ingenious plotting and a hefty dose of humor. The B and B chef's yummy recipes are also a plus.
Booklist Booklist
The rousing return of Stanley many a Christie mystery--or like Lawrence Block's Burglar in the Library(1997), in which another New Yorker, Bernie Rhodenbarr, solves a murder in a New England B & B--this one is so clever and so much fun that whodunit takes a backseat to the delicious style with which the tale is told.

I enjoy the Stanley Hastings novels much more than the puzzle lady series. They are very amusing, but this was the best of the bunch. My mom was having medical tests and I was driving her crazy with my giggling while she was being poked and prodded. I just couldn't keep it in. One of the few laugh out loud books I've read over the years. I recommend reading a few of the others first to get to know the characters, but the mysteries are always fairly complex, the situations are amusing, and the characters entertaining.

This was a great book! I wasn't expecting it to be, I checked it out at the library just trying to pass some time, but I've been won over by Stanley Hastings, and If you read this book you will too.

I laughed out loud reading this book. I always enjoy the Stanley Hastings series, but this was the best one yet. Funny, with a good mystery and likable characters
