Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This is a collection of art projects slated for young children, two to six years old. The author encourages emphasizing the process, not the product, as the title implies. Making art allows children the opportunity to explore and manipulate their world. The activities are coded as to appropriate age, preparation time and how much adult supervision is required. The projects are fairly predictable and oddly product oriented, despite the supposed emphasis on process. The branch weaving and bag kite projects are among the more innovative and age appropriate. Many of the activities are complicated and intricate and would be difficult for kids under six years old. 2001, Gryphon House, $7.95. Ages 2 to 6. Reviewer: Kristin Harris
