This advanced book of rigid fixation describes the scientific principles and applied techniques primarily for the AO/ASIF hardware system.
This advanced book of rigid fixation of the bones of the skull, face and jaws describes scientific principles and applied techniques relevant to all hardware systems. Editorial Reviews
From The Critics
Reviewer: Rodrigue G. Barakat, DMD(Loyola University Medical Center)Description: This a reference on the recent topics of craniomaxillofacial surgery discussed in the latest meetings of the AO-ASIF.
Purpose: The purpose is to present the progress in craniomaxillofacial surgery through the technical and scientific advances in biomaterial, microvascular surgery, dental implantology and surgical techniques.
Audience: The book is directed towards any surgeon involved in the treatment of craniomaxillofacial disorders. The authors include a multitude of international specialists, from oral and maxillofacial surgeons to ENT surgeons to plastic surgeons, all very respected in their fields.
Features: This is a hard cover book containing mainly black-and-white images covering a wide variety of subjects pertaining to craniomaxillofacial surgery, from areas such as diagnosis to osteointegrated implants to reconstructive surgery. The chapters contain case presentations completed by precise drawings. The last section of the book is a presentation of the current treatment of many of the craniomaxillofacial syndromes.
Assessment: This is an excellent resource for the craniomaxillofacial surgeon. The chapters are well constructed and concise, complementing the topics by relevant clinical case presentations. A particularly interesting chapter is the one discussing the current AO/ASIF craniofacial fixation system hardware, providing the reader with old and known systems as well as recent additions to the armamentarium. This is not a basic textbook on craniomaxillofacial surgery, but it represents a good source of additional information on current techniques used and presented in the recent AO/ASIF meetings.
