Still Waters Run . . . Deadly

Sailing the Caribbean is every yacht owner's dream. Azure waters, golden sunshine and warm winds greet sailors in every port. But that dream is shattered when one boat returns from a race without its captain. The story is that the skipper fell overboard, but the clues point to something much more sinister and one of the crew is arrested. And that crew member happens to be a friend of Miami Jones.

Miami and his mentor Lenny Cox turn their sights on the rest of the crew, and run up against a prosecutor looking to prove himself in the job, a crew with more secrets than J. Edgar Hoover, and an ex-wife waiting for the insurance payday of a lifetime.

AJ is working on a screenplay that he never plans to produce, but it gives him something to talk about at parties in LA.

This is a very enjoyable, well researched and clever mystery adventure. This time Miami and his friends get involved with yacht racing and crewing. I especially enjoyed the depth of the characters, the twists of the plot and the ambiance of location. There is a definite feel to Miami's world and it is a great place to "getaway" to. I am looking forward to more in this series.

I had read the other four Miami Jones novels and enjoyed them greatly. A. J. Stewart has a great thing going here and I was jonesing (see what I did there :-) ) for another Miami Jones book when this one showed up. It takes place before the others and is kind of an origin story to give background on the characters and where they came from. Again, I devoured it and enjoyed the read. I highly recommend these books to fans of Carl Hiassen, James Hall, Jimmy Buffett, and even John D. McDonald.

Part of a great series. Draws you in and keeps you there. Lot of twists and turns.....you will constantly be trying to figure out "who done it". Only issue for me is trying to put the book down!
