I couldn't put it down. I sure hope you have success. A few years back I was on a reading extravaganza and read 316 books in 3 years. Sue Grafton, Nora Roberts, James Patterson, Robert B. Parker, Patricia Cornwell and Tony Hillerman were my favorite authors. I was just as engaged with your book as I was with all of those. It went whip fast and had a nice twist at the end. Well Done.

Meet the Author

Crazy in Paradise, is Deborah Brown's debut novel, a Florida Keys mystery, which makes the reader laugh, cry and cheer...

My personal ad would read:

Since all great journeys start with a single step, I'll have on a cute pair of shoes.

Crazy. Ice cream loving. Redhead. 5'2", long legs. As an avid exerciser, I get to the gym every five years or so. I hate being tricked by that stinking raisin in the oatmeal cookie when my heart was set on chocolate. And it's totally acceptable for me to be mildly annoying when it makes me laugh. South Florida is my home, with my ungrateful rescue animals, where Mother Nature takes out her bad attitude in the form of hurricanes.

When Madison’s Aunt Elizabeth dies of a heart attack, she inherits The Tarpon Cove Cottages, a beachfront motel. She is pumped up ready to begin with day-to-day operations. The only trouble is that the executer is the sleazy probate lawyer handling the estate.

In the meantime, hot, hunky Zack shows up on her doorstep after being shot. To her surprise, she learns that he was one of Elizabeth’s friends. In fact, he is one of a group of friends of possible shady character. And things just get crazier daily it seems.

I loved Madison and Zack’s chemistry. Her personality fit right in with all of the characters. I think she should have been more aggressive with the lawyer and Will, though. But the way things turned out, I probably would have been killed straight off.

    A quick pick-me-up...

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of Crazy In Paradise as a member of Beck Valley Book Tours. All opinions are 100% my own.

Crazy In Paradise by Deborah Brown is one of those books that you read when you need a good pick-me-up. Not because of spiritual or religious content or a sappy romance or even truly believable characters, but because you want humor, intrigue and just a great all around read.

This is one of those stories that you don't want to put down because it is funny as heck! It is a fairly quick read and that is another thing that makes it great for a pick-me-up. You could read it quickly while on vacation and that's something I often look for. A feel good book while I'm away from home.

Madison is genuinely lovable. She is quirky and fun and I love how she throws herself into her quest to run her Aunt's motel. She does have some moments where she has a bit of naivety but that lets the story move from one plot to the next. The characters that she interacts with make for one heck of a story. They are outrageous!  I could easily see this being made into a comedy. If you're looking for something fun to read, check out Crazy In Paradise By Deborah Brown

I loved Madison Westin¿s character. She was so strong and indepe

I loved Madison Westin’s character. She was so strong and independent. I wish that I could be a more strong and able woman to do things for myself and just make decisions that were for me. I always second guess and tend to look for others for guidance and approval. Reading about women who are strong and know what they want out of life always gives me the motivation to want to do this for myself. Madison has now inherited her aunt’s motel, which in itself is a lot to undertake. There are some crazy tenants that stay there that are making the adjustment hard. On top of that one of the hired managers is bragging that he is in fact the owner of the motel. What the heck! A lawyer is giving her advice that she just needs to sell the place and not waste her time. At first, that seems like the best idea (and probably what I would have done because of all the responsibility and hassle). Her mother could care less about any of that and just wants her to settle down. That’s any mother’s dream for their children is to be happy and settle down.
This book definitely tickled all my fancies when Zach was introduced. What a piece of hotness to add to life’s little messes that seem to find us. He is the ultimate boyfriend because he has just the right amount of mystery and danger to make you want to know more and more about him. He would also be great to cuddle with too, of course. Trouble and mystery seem to follow Madison as well as CRAZY times, but aren’t we all a little crazy? So kick back and let your work week leave at the door. This story is fun and steamy and lacks nothing in the entertainment department. Five stars for a take me away read that will surely leave you thrilled.

I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.

Ready to read the next break out novelist? Well, you’ve found her: Deborah Brown! Crazy in Paradise is the perfect combination of romance, action, and mystery. Jump right in and join the action in small town Florida. See if you can figure out the good guys from the bad guys…Madison Westin is the perfect woman to draw you into the slightly shady side of life. Not only has she recently gone through a nasty divorce, her aunt dies, leaving her a motel full of issues. Can she figure out the real threat before it’s too late? Add in a cast of slightly criminal, slightly sleazy characters and you’ve got a story worth staying up past any decent bed time.Toward the end there were a few scenes that were glossed over…Making me think that there might be a sequel in the works. My fingers are crossed that is comes soon!If you are a fan of the Stephanie Plum novels, you will LOVE Crazy in Paradise. It feels like an old friend stopped by to spend a few hours soaking up the rays.

I enjoyed reading this book so much! Madison Westin is one of those character's that will have you chuckling--then laughing out loud-and even shaking your head in disbelief at some of the scrapes she gets into. Zach, who walked into her house (literally) is a private detective bad boy who immediately decides that Madison is his girlfriend-whether she agrees or not. His cohorts all end up walking in as well and kind of take over Madison's life--as if she doesn't have enough trouble with a Mom who is, let's just say unusual and seems to want to set poor Madison up on a date--Madison's brother--well he is her Big brother after all. Actually I don't think there is one normal person in the book--except perhaps for Jazz, Madison's cat! There are some pretty nasty people in there as well who are out to steal Madison's inheritance (her recently deceased Aunt Elizabeth's motel) and things do get kind of dicey for a while.

In conclusion if you like a light and airy who done it or is going to possibly do it and you like humor along with a little romance, a little mystery and a little of everything in-between-I suggest you sit yourself down and read this book--it is a fast read and it definitely gets a 5 star from me!

I was so upset, I almost cried (seriously!) I did not want this book to end!

This was a quick (to me anyway), easy read and I was crushed when it ended. I really, really enjoyed this book!

Tarpon Cove is a small town so when people show up announced, it didn’t seem strange to me. I actually would love to live in a small town where that was normal! I was raised in a small town (which is no longer small) and while people didn’t necessarily walk into our house unannounced, they would show up unannounced and you never worried about locking the doors – that is my kind of living!

I love Zach. I love the tough guy and I love his crew! My kind of friends!

There was definitely a mysteriousness about this book as you try to put all the pieces together and there was definitely suspense and romance!

I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend Crazy in Paradise. In my personal opinion, I didn’t find it to be a chick book. I think it could be enjoyed by males and females alike.

A wacky, madcap, and somewhat eccentric read. I was able to read along quickly and grasp the story. There are multiple ups and downs for Madison when she inherits a motel and the quirky bunch of occupants that dwell there. A story plot with double-dealing and a bit of romance. Dealing with the bit dotty and deranged characters became a chore for Madison. AND that lawyer, what is up with him? I did not find it too hard to unlock the mystery. I found the book to be comical, and of course there was an interesting romantic interaction. I really wanted to see Madison's character develop a bit more, but I think this was still a nice read.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.

Crazy in Paradise has a little bit of everything: drama, romance, humor, suspense, and more. It’s an easy and fun (mostly) read and the title is perfect.

Madison Westin, the main character, is independent, stubborn, and a little nutty. When she inherits her aunt’s house and beach side cottages, she meets a lot of colorful characters. Some of them become good friends or more and some become problems in one way or another.

Crazy in Paradise is nonstop action until the end. The ending was anticlimactic and I thought it should have ended sooner. Overall, though, I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys women’s fiction.

I have to say this book is one continuous adventure after another. Poor Madison is in for the ride of a lifetime when she inherits this place from her Aunt Elizabeth!

Evidently, Aunt Elizabeth had a lot of things going on because she needed a private investigator at her call all the time. Zach is who Madison finds with a bullet wound in her Aunt's house and she has to call a doctor to come and fix him up. Seems like he has a lot of shady friends who is at his beck and call. Makes me wonder what the heck is going on that a nice old lady would need all these kinds of men around?

Madison has her hands full with the employees as well. I don't know what in the heck her Aunt was doing with all these crazy and weird people in her life, but Madison has to sort it all out and decide who is telling the truth and who is the crook or who is a friend.

Will she figure it all out in time to save herself? If you like zany and crazy stories with a side of romance and comedy, this is the book for you! It is definitely filled with one adventure or disaster after another. You will need your strength to get through it all.

Madison Westin proves to be an intriguing character in a cove filled with interesting characters, most of whom are tenants at the motel. Personalities help make the story, although the story could have started a bit quicker. Introducing the murder sooner would have increased the pace.

The first meeting between Zach and Madison strains the reader's believability. There wasn't enough development between the two characters as well as between Madison and her mother.

Errors and editing mistakes stood out to the point that it detracts from the story. Stilted dialogue proved to have a similar result as well. The number of times the author avoided said, when said would have worked just fine as a dialogue tag, stood out.

If you can look past the errors in the prose, overall the story certainly kept my attention from the first page to the last, fitting nicely as a chick lit and beach read.

    more from this reviewer

Has potential but could be better

When I read the blurb for this book I was intrigued by the promise of a tough heroine and plenty of action so although it took me a while to get to it I was excited about reading this novel. The first paragraph was good and so I settled in to read.
There are things that worked for me: the villains are chilling and infuriatingly in control of the situation, the good guys aren't averse to breaking and entering, and the guys in between apparently don't know that playing both sides isn't the smartest thing to do. Madison herself is a woman with a past and is ready to reclaim her life, ready to take some risks and there are plenty of risks to take. Action scenes flowed very well and I was glad to see that things didn't always end well for the good guys and Madison didn't always escape unscathed. Another positive is that things did move along rather quickly and this wasn't a laborious read.
There are also things that didn't work for me: the dialogue was often robotic with no real segway between subjects and there were few details that helped create a living-breathing atmosphere for the scenes that would pull me in. The insta-lust between Madison and Zach was way too instant and way too intense, and the fact that she welcomed him into her life as quickly as she did and to the extent that she did. Half the time I wished she would remember that she's only just met the guy and tell him to quit groping her in public. Another thing that didn't work for me was how the truth about the main villain was revealed, I felt it was too contrived.
I usually don't complain about blurbs because their whole job is to hook the reader and they rarely represent what the book is about with any degree of accuracy. I will complain here though: the blurb makes Madison out to be a go-getter who is on first-name basis with guns and who's going to "wrestle" her inheritance from the bad guys, but when I read the book I got an impression that she's a young woman who is really more of a scaredy-cat whith a swim in her pool at the top of her to-do list than a go-getter, although she tries darn hard to break out of the pattern and therefore makes some audacious choices and actually sees some action.
All in all this isn't a bad read but while I think that Ms. Brown's writing has potential this book wouldn't be my first choice to recommend to a friend in search of a thrilling mystery.
