Reviewed by Shyla Book provided by the publisher for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book I expected Cream in Her Coffee to be hot and in that aspect it delivered. I picked this one up because I was intrigued. Could a porn star be turned into a heroine I’d root for? I’m sad to say the answer, for me personally, was no. Olivia was extremely shallow, which got us off on the wrong foot from the very start. With the length being so short, I don’t believe Ms. McDowell had enough time to truly redeem her. It left Olivia feeling one dimensional, and I couldn’t muster up sympathy or understanding. The heroes, Rob and Bob, sexy twins who also worked in the adult industry, suffered the same fate. They didn’t get much screen time and their declarations of finding Olivia to be special when they’d barley interacted and only met one or two times before didn’t ring true. Ms. McDowell does a wonderful job of pulling the reader into the story with her descriptive writing. You can see, taste, and smell the area around you, which isn’t always a good thing. There was an undercurrent of humor mixed in with the drama, which I loved! The subject matter was extremely interesting, and the sex scenes sizzled, but it lacked the shot of emotion needed to really pull it into the erotic romance. If you’re looking for an erotic read different from your every day story I think this will fit the bill nicely.
