Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 3-6-This book focuses on wildlife habitats that can be created in the backyard, at school, or in the woods. Many of the projects can be adapted to city, suburban, or rural areas (e.g., bird feeders, planters, an insect observatory). Each section begins with a brief biology or environmental lesson before segueing into the project. For each activity a supply list and clear instructions are provided. Frequent sidebars enhance the lessons of the text and activity. The drawings are clear and the layout is pleasing. The many diagrams aid understanding and will be helpful to report writers; there are also a few charts. This book will be a great resource for children to use on their own or with an adult. It will also be useful to educators, who will find many easy hands-on activities to enhance biology and ecology units. The resource list includes conservation, activist, and migration-study organizations and suppliers.-Amy Patrick, New York Public Library Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
