Overview

When you're on death row, minutes from the electric chair, and a hook-handed monk offers to save your life if you'll just swallow a simple little pill... what've you got to lose? You take the pill. Then you wake up, officially "dead," in the back of an ambulance, headed for an undisclosed location. Welcome to your new life, working for CURE, the most secret, most deniable, most extra-judicial government agency ever to exist. Only the President knows about it, and even he doesn't control it.

That's what happened to Remo Williams, a New Jersey cop framed for a murder he didn't commit. Framed by the very people who saved him, in fact. And now, trained in esoteric martial arts by Chiun, master of Sinanju, he's going to become the ultimate killing machine. Remo will be America's last line of defense against mad scientists, organized crime, ancient undead gods, and anything else that threatens the Constitution. Remo Williams will become the Destroyer.

An action-adventure series leavened with social and political satire, the Destroyer novels have been thrilling readers worldwide for decades.

    Avoid at all cost

I know this ebook is only $.99, but even at that price, it's not worth it. I've always enjoyed the Destroyer series and figured I could read the first book of the series since I've missed it in the past. If I had been aware of the copious amount of formatting errors, I would have skipped it. They are so many, I cannot see anyone enjoying this version of the book. If you have the original book, enjoy that instead.

Fun so far, but formatting SUCKS BAAAAD!!

I was anxious to start reading these books after rewatching the Remo Williams movie again. The story is proving to be a great deal of fun so far....IF I can get past this horrid formatting on the Nook!!! Maybe you have focused solely on Kindles, I don't know...but that would be a mistake to forget about the huge .epub market.
I mean, seriously gentlemen...if you're going to start a publishing company and provide eBooks, please have some respect for your readers and do a decent job. I can't recommend these books until you do.

First of all I am glad to see the series on NOOK Books. However, someone need to spell check this book before putting it out on line. There is a lot of punctuation marks on each page making the book harder to read.

The first time i read this book (1#) I must have missed a lot of the story because it was like reading the book for the first time. This is truely a great series and I am looking forward to the next books I have already purchased to enjoy them like new.

    more from this reviewer

When I was a kid I saw these books and the Mack Bolan series eve

When I was a kid I saw these books and the Mack Bolan series every where. The covers always intrigued me but I was more into science fiction and fantasy. Plus they seemed a little pulpy and cheesy to me. Since I got my Nook I've been reading whatever I can get my hands on. I saw the electronic version of this book for $0.99 and couldn't pass it up. I remember the Remo Williams movie from the 80's. It was okay if nothing special but entertaining enough that I thought I'd give this a try. I have to say the book it nothing like I remember the movie. I haven't seen it in years but I still don't think it was like this. I was also surprised at how well written the book is. It's almost as colorful as some of the 70's crime novels I like such as The Friends of Eddie Coyle: A Novel or Get Carter although not as gritty or realistic obviously. The humor is dark and Remo is an odd kind of anti-hero hero. It is pretty politically incorrect and misogynistic if you worry about those things (I don't). I like stories about mobsters set in the 1970's New York time frame and this story feels authentic.

As far as formatting goes they must have corrected that problem. There were no spelling errors, punctuation issues or any other problems with my copy.

I finished this off in a couple of days and bought the second book in the series right away. I'm now looking forward to the third one since most reviewers are saying that's when the series really gets good.

    Highly recommend

This is the first of many in this series - I hope it is a start of more to come. It is well written and easy to read. I recommend this book for any one that has followed the Destroyer series at all. It is also a good starter book for things to come.

I love this series. Politically incorrect and the good guy always wins.
