Alexandra Stoddard has brought beauty and grace to the lives of millions all over the world through her many books, including the phenomenal betseller, Living a Beautiful Life. In Creating a Beautiful Home, Alexandra Stoddard generously shares her professional secrets as an interior designer as well as her personal experiences in renovating and decorating her own 1775 home in Connecticut. Once again, her original and imaginative ideas for every room in the house will inform and inspire you on your own exciting journey of discovery as you transform your living space into a warm and welcoming oasis of harmony, beauty, and joy.

When the bestselling author of Living a Beautiful Life bought a charming Connecticut cottage two years ago, the renowned designer became the client. Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Stoddard, author of Daring To Be Yourself (Doubleday, 1990) and Living a Beautiful Life ( LJ 10/15/86) , is an interior designer and columnist for several well-known magazines. Here she offers ideas aimed at helping those who want to turn their houses into warm, comfortable homes that ``work'' for them. While providing enjoyable reading with good, interesting advice, this book is more a personal philosophy on decorating and lifestyle than a typical ``how-to-do-it'' guide that you would expect to find in the decorating section. The text, complemented by several tinted sketches, is the focal point.-- Barbara Bartos, St. Croix Cty. Lib., Hammond, Wis.
Diana Milesko-Pytel
Reading this book is like sitting down to tea and a friendly chat with the author. It's cozy and warm; the suggestions are practical, personal, and reaffirming. Ideas that can turn your house into a welcoming home are divided into two sections. In the first, the author suggests 10 commandments of redecorating. Such advice as "elegance is more often achieved by what you leave out" and "think of rooms as intimate spaces where you want to feel comfortable" is drawn from the author's own experience. The second section discusses such areas as the entrance, dining space, kitchen, and bedrooms. Sections called "Grace Notes" offer hints for each room. The message in this book is that your house tells who you are. It is enlightening reading whether you are redecorating or just like to think about doing so.

Can Not even download and read

Just like the previous reviewer, I am unable to even read this book. Alexandra Stoddard is a wonderful author, and I am very disappointed I can't access this book on nook for pc. After 45 minutes on the phone with tech support (Literally, all they had me do was turn my pc on and off, and restart everything, and try everything I had already tried myself), I was then told, it MUST be a problem with my pc!!!! After reading the last review, I doubt that!

Even if it is free...don't waste your time.

I've read a couple of her other books and enjoyed them... Now I don't know what the deal is with this book, but it is really messed up. Weird characters all over the place, line breaks in odd places, typos galore, and passages that just don't make sense at all. The actual book may or may not be good, but you can't read it to find out.
