Liana's compilation of tried and true therapeutic activities for families is a "must have" for therapists who are faced with the challenge of engaging a wide range of ages and personalities that make up the family system. As a private practitioner, I thoroughly enjoy using this book as a reference when engaging families in therapy. The techniques are effective and the materials that are needed to perform the activities are most likely already in the therapist's office. The book will more than pay for itself the first time it is used. Beth M. Hughes, LCSW, PIP

Lowenstein's books are packed with engaging and innovative techniques for use with children, teens and families and her newest contribution to the field provides a wealth of interventions for use in family therapy. Packed full of creative, engaging, and play-based ways to intervene with families in a meaningful way, Creative Family Therapy Techniques deserves a place in your practice. ~ Sueann Kenney-Noziska, MSW, LISW, LCSW, RPT-S/Play Therapy Corner, Inc.

This book is a wonderful addition to family play therapy. I've found that engaging the entire family in therapy can be a challenge, and this book gives countless ways to get family members talking to the counselor and one another. Many of the activities are simple and require little to no planning, so they are great go-to activities for working with new families. One activity only requires a deck of cards and question cards! These activities lend themselves to a range of ages, presenting problems, and family sizes. I've used these activities with siblings, and families of 6!

This is an excellent tool for therapists to use with any age and in a variety of settings. Interventions are easily accessible and well organized. This book incorporates active play techniques, as well as creative art, in treatment. The variety of interventions makes it easy to utilize with many presenting problems. I love the focus of family in treatment, and this book elegantly shows the value of support systems in client's lives. I have recommended this book to many of my co-workers, and recommend it for you also! I would also like to recommend her book, "Assessment and Treatment Activities for Children, Adolescents, and Families: Practitioners Share Their Most Effective Techniques". Another success for Liana Lowenstein!
