Altoist Marco Eneidi and tenor saxophonist Glenn Spearman in 1995 led the Creative Music Orchestra, a very crowded 21-piece orchestra also including two violins, two basses, two drummers/percussionists, two trumpets, three other tenors, two altos, three clarinets, two guitars, and one piano. On this CD they record the six-part "American Jungle Suite." Four of the movements are by Eneidi, one is by Spearman, and one piece is borrowed from Cecil Taylor. The musicians which mix together a few veterans with many younger players handle the difficult music quite well although all but the most open-eared jazz collectors might find some of the more intense passages almost unlistenable. This set does grow in interest with each listen.
