Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Rug hooking is the art of creating rugs by pulling strips of woolen fabric through a linen or burlap backing. The technique is simple, but the result can be priceless folk art. Richly illustrated with full-color photos of the rugs of more than 50 hookers, this is an "idea" book focusing on how experienced rug hookers create their own unique rugs by adapting existing patterns, designing theme borders, employing decorative lettering, and using rugs to tell stories about their lives and the lives of those around them. Of special interest are the fascinating glimpses of the same pattern as interpreted by different rug hookers. There is a small selection of attractive projects and patterns, but the book encourages readers to go beyond beginning projects and develop a unique hooking style. Warmly recommended for public libraries and textile collections. Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
