Sandi Genovese is well known from her many books, and her show on DIY network. Her show is bountiful with inspiring ideas, but after buying the 4th book by her I am starting to see many of the same projects running together in all of the books I own. First off, if you dont own any Sizzix products then you will face your 1st problem as every page done in this book is created with Sizzix die cuts. 2nd, the examples she gives are simple, meaning she slaps down some die cuts on the page with one picture, a title, and no journaling. She doesnt embellish any of the die cuts, except in the section for cards which is well done, and many of the pages are on dark backgrounds. The instructions are good and easy to follow, but if you are intermediate to advanced I would just stay away as you will be disappointed. Now she does have a section on creating cards which was copied from another book I own of hers called Creative Greeting Cards which is an excellent book and highly recommended. If you are a beginner you will enjoy this book as they do a good job introducing you to Scrapbooking & the different techniques you can do. One final note regarding the patterns they give you in the back and the 2 pages of alphabets you can use. One, the patterns are very close together and hard to copy. Two, she doesnt tell you how much you should increase the size of the pattern to match her example on the page which means you will be waisting a lot of paper trying to figure it out.
This book was a bit disappointing for me for 2 reasons. The first is that it is much to simplistic or rather lacks much imagination. Secondly, there is as much content of other things as there is of scrapbooking ideas. There are many pages of ideas for cards and tons of patterns for very basic shapes and alphabets. This book would be good for a young child. It has very adequate but simple instructions.
