This was an adventurous Christian fantasy book. The idea of a battle between good versus evil with angels and demons intrigued me. I couldn't wait to get started. I very much enjoyed reading about the ancient tale of the angels that fell from Heaven. I liked how Henderson was able to weave this Biblical story into his fascinating fictitious tale. His mastery skills of description helped me picture the world he created and vividly helped me picture what the angels and demons looked like. Henderson also did a fabulous job in illustrating the battles. It was very scary to read about what happened to the Angel of Death for the idea of no death on earth made me shudder. This Biblical tale was interwoven with the story of Agean. Agean was a very rounded character who showed growth as the plot progressed. He was not aware that he was chosen to be a warrior of God. In the beginning, Agean was a very immature character who didn't take responsibility. At first, his character got on my nerves. However, after learning where Agean came from and after seeing his personal growth, my feelings towards him changed for the positive. I ended up enjoying his character towards the end. As much as I enjoyed this book, I could not give it a five star rating. Though this was an easy read, there were parts in the middle that were too slow for me. This first book in the trilogy concentrated a lot on how Agean gathered the warriors to fight against the demons. I did enjoy learning the backstory of the other characters, but I would have much preferred to have been a bit shorter. I was too anxious to get to the part of the battle between the demons. Other than this flaw, this was an engrossing read. To sum up, Credara: Rise of the Kraylen was a captivating book. If you like reading about battles between good versus evil and reading about Biblical events, then this is the right book for you. The ending left me with my mouth hanging, which has me excited for the next book in the trilogy.

The story starts at the end of the Great War in heaven with Lucifer being thrown to hell and his angels being turned into the Kraylen and scattered across the world. The credara, the key to unlocking hell, is hidden on earth. A thousand years later, we meet Agean. His is a monk of the Holy Order of God that has studied history and trained to fight against the rising of the Kraylen. Agean can’t remember anything from his past and is haunted by nightmares. He is the Sitcian, the one that has the power to stop the Kraylen. He also learns about the credara and his own past. He joins with others that have been trained to stop Lucifer from being released from hell. But he is torn between doing what is expected from him and killing those that slaughtered his family. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the imagery and the religious references. My heart goes out to Agean. He is bored, so exhausted from the continual nightmare, and then bend on revenge. He goes through so much yet rises above. I loved the ending which is open for another couple books. This is a great story that will draw you in. It is one that you don’t want to miss. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

With a rich set of characters, each with their own unique intriguing history and chosen weapon, Credara, Rise of the Kraylen took me on an adventure that conjured vivid images of heroes battling villains with equally interesting but sinister histories and dark superpowers that challenged each hero in a different way. The struggles and mysteries these heroes must solve to save their own lives as well as their families take place in fascinating places from cities in the sea to dense forests utilized by tree-dwelling warriors. Throughout this book, I kept asking myself why isn’t this quest on the big screen in 3-D? What a shame! If traveling the earth with a Sitcian Monk and his six friends, and a hawk leading the way overhead is the kind of journey you’d like to read about, then Credara Rise of the Kraylen is for you! I can’t wait for sequel!

Again I was surprized by a book. I've read Christian books and I've read Fantasy books. This is really the first Christian Fantasy book I've read. At first I wondered what I had picked to read but as I read on I could see it made sense as far as Fantastis make sense. The Sitcian Warriors are trying to keep Lucifer in Hell after his fall from Grace. The evil Kraylens are doing their best to get him out. There are lots of battles, big and small. The Kraylens captured the Angel of Death and have disrupted the world as no one is able to die for any reason. There is a special urn, the Credara, which only works for the Sitcians but will open the portral for the release of Lucifer. There is a special book of instructions called the Bisalis which is snuck away by the Kraylens. This was an interesting read. I can't wait to read the next two books in the trilogy to see how this ends. If you are looking for a different read try this one.

Credara : Rise of the Kraylen by J E Henderson. I really enjoyed this story. It was not one of my favorites, but not every good book can be a favorite. The details of this story are great. I was easily able to picture the environments the author described. As the story progressed I found I became more and more interested.

This was a really great book. The story is original and I found myself unable to put it down. I hope the second book in the trilogy is coming soon because the suspense is killing me.
