A Truthful & Insightful Interpretation of the Human Spirit

Crematorium is a well written story based on the human madness of a serial killer. Schleicher exposes the killer's insane motives and the terror he invokes on his victims; and explores the total breakdown of the human character in the wake of this madman's killing spree. As disturbing as this subject is, I encourage the reader to finish the story in its entirety. You will be rewarded with a truthful and insightful interpretation of the human spirit and the unbreakable bond between mother and child.

    Crematorium

You'll feel like you are reading the work of a fevered mad-man, a modern day Edgar Allen Poe, perhaps a reincarnation of that great American poet who started the psychological horror genre. Though billed as a crime novel, there isn't much in terms of police procedural and detection. The focus here is on the minds and hearts of the characters and how they are affected by acts of horror, ranging from global historical travesties like the Holocaust to the rampage of a serial child killer. With it's multiple narrators and points of view, you will never know where it is headed next. In the end, things you thought that would never be connected or never uttered in the same breath (the Bangles and reincarnation anyone?) come together in new and fantastic ways. In some ways, this book is nothing but plot twists, and could be dismissed as an exercise in turning the screws of psychological terror. But it is so much more than that if you let it be. A truly stirring work that could cause many sleepless nights.

    Crematorium

A great first novel that should please readers who enjoy a bit of spiritual digression with their psychological horror, lots of plot twists, and blunt-straight to the point narration. It will keep you guessing to the very end. It's one of those mystery stories where you aren't even sure half of the time what the mystery is. The suprise ending will make your head spin. Highly recommended.
