USA Today Bestseller

Maggie Thomas doesn't know the first thing about being a private eye. She quickly discovers that running her uncle's faltering Miami Beach P.I. agency is nothing like watching detective show reruns. Even the private eye app on her iPhone can't help.

But Maggie's first case is surprisingly easy...or so she thinks until she stumbles upon a dead body. With whizzing bullets, car chases, and spandex-clad bodybuilders, Maggie wonders if she's in over her head. Jake Jackson, the dangerously charming cop, thinks Maggie needs to stick to snapping pictures of cheating husbands and leave the detective work to the professionals.

The danger escalates when another homicide victim washes up on the shore and now someone wants to stop Maggie from solving the murders. With the help of her knitting needle–wielding, orthopedic shoe–wearing assistant Dorothy Raye, Maggie must solve the case before she's the next victim of this crime wave.

As usual Rose delivers another fun, exciting, adventure. This is a new series without any ghosts, vampires, or werewolves which I prefer, but it was a great addition to her list of series. I enjoyed meeting Maggie and Jake and especially Dorothy who ended up being my favorite character. This would be a great book to read at the beach, pool, or just anywhere where you wanted to just relax and enjoy yourself.

    fun read

I liked this story. It was a fun read about a woman taking over running her dead uncles private detective agency. Her first case starts as a cheating spouse case and turns into a murder investigation where she meets Jake Jackson a police detective. He finds her at several places investigating. Could she be right about the murder? Will more than the lunch and one drink lead to more?

I think this book was written for young adults. The story was very dull with bland characters. Had to make myself finish it while skipping many chapters in the process.

Wonderful and quirky crime mystery. Maggie Thomas inherits an PI firm from her deceased uncle as well as a spunky grandmotherly assistant. Her first case is more then she bargains for and finds herself in deeper then she ever imagined. Throw in a sexy detective to the mix who seems to show up everywhere and you're guaranteed a fun entertaining story. Murder, affairs, corruption, and lots of laughs this book has it all!

    Almost good reading

This was fun and easy to read if you didn't have to figure out the misspelled words. The plot was so so, but enjoyable. Ms. Thomas is quite ditzy and a bit unbelievable in fact if I was in need of an investigator (or private eye as she kept calling herself) she would be mylast choice! And Jake sure was a terrible detective almost a comical buffoon. Made for an afternoon with nothing else to read.
