Good story, bad ending

This was a fairly interesting story that was told. I thought this story would have more information about Jimmy 'Whitey' Bulger. The story itself was mediocre, the main emphasis was on a deal that went bad that involved a large amount of weapons. Good read, don't plan on reading a book that goes into great detail about the Boston mob though.

Shockingly Entertaining!

I know Pat Nee as an aquaintance, and i'm good friends with the author Mike Blythe, but I only recently read the book and I was pleasantly suprised, this is a must read for anyone who wants a true crime told by two real Southie guys.

Could NOT put this down

I couldn't put this outstanding book down. It was extremely interesting and such a fascinating tale. I never knew the other authors that assisted with this book, but I have heard of Pat Nee before as I lived in the City of Boston for years. I'm a lot younger than him and the guys he hung around with through those years back then. His connection with the IRA was just so incredible to read and to think it all happened in this day and age right in the city of Boston. To me, it was something to hear about. I was just so in awe reading about it to tell you the truth because like every one else? I only read these type of stories like this in the newspaper or on the news 9 times out of 10. It was really something to read quite a few of his incredible tales! Just wait until you read his fascinating book, because you will absolutely know what I'm talking about here, I'm not telling you a thing until you read it, THEN get back to me on it and what your thoughts are with it all! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, immensely. I also thought it was great to hear it all in his own words and it wasn't so much with Pat's actual involvement with Whitey Bulger and the underworld either, because that was minimally discussed if at all in this remarkable book. I thought that everything else that he discussed throughout each chapter was SO wild where it was genuinely the truth and so so incredibly well written and told with it all. I also only got out of this book a tiny tiny little mention of Whitey Bulger and his involvement with Pat Nee's life and how it was for him, back then (in those days!). I think people that really read this book truthfully and actually sat down and read this one from cover to cover and if they retained it all the way the rest of us have? Then they'd know this as well. I really don't know how any one in their right mind can say that this book is 'slow paced' reading it's just beyond my comprehension with making a blanket, foolish statement like that. To each his own though, to each his own. I personally think they've got to be from another planet or else they don't know how to read very well, which is MY opinion with that comment made. I also think this particular wonderfully written entertaining book should be a movie some day and if it isn't? Then I'd say the whole USA is pretty 'slow paced', wouldn't you think? Because this is one fascinating tale being told. I know one thing that's going on for a fact. This book is mandatory reading material for a couple of criminal justice classes at some colleges in New England from what my nephews have told me and if it isn't in their collection of books by now? Then it absolutely should be, because it's quite an incredible tale for college students to read as well as every one else in our society today especially people that are on BOTH sides of the fence and you know who I mean out there, that's you. This book is in paperback now and I recently bought it because so many of my friends and family have borrowed my hardcover. Out of all the books that have been written about Boston or about the IRA as well as all the books that have been written right out of Southie these days? This is definitely one gem of a book that people won't be able to put down. I read all the slew of stories from the different authors in or from Southie and I think that this is one story that every one needs to read. I would say Pat's story and how it's been up to now for him is certainly quite fascinating to hear about. Tell me something, have you ever done some of these things he tells you about? I certainly never did! Like I said before, I'm hoping to see this one on the big screen some day and if it isn't? Then it definitely should be and that's a fact jack! This book needs to be read by every one of you out there.

Slow paced?

How did you find this book slow paced, and how did you think it was about Whitey Bulger, quick question, did you even read the book? Whitey is mentioned, but it isn't about Pat Nee and Whitey Bulger, it's about Pat Nee using his Criminal status and connections to help the IRA as much as he could. This book is definitely not slow paced, or cashing on Whitey Bulger. Try reading the book before commenting. No where on this book's title does it say anything about 'Pat Nee and his connections with Whitey Bulger.'

I found this book to be a dissapointment. The pace was slow. The writing inferior. Just another cashing in on the 'Whitey Bulger story'.

An entertaining read!

I bought the other Southie books first. The review from Publishers Weekly was cold so I stayed away. However, this was the most entertaining of them all. At times I was actually rooting for Pat Nee! Could not put it down.
