I really enjoyed reading this book. As future teachers we will experience many teaching styles, strategies and emphasis on concepts. This book Critical Pedagogy has a personal touch. Dr. Wink real life stories through K-12 education can be relatible and clear to understand her message she is conveying. Her concepts include imagery pictures. Focusing you to think deep and express education meaning. She explains the three models of Pedagogy: Transformative, Generative, Transmission. There are great theorists that Dr. Wink writes about. Plato, Socrates, Aristotle and Vygotsky. There were many things I learned to apply to my education strategies form these philosophers. Her writing is easy to read and follow. There is tensional learning and Incidental learning. I recommend this book makes you think deeper then ever!

This is a great book for all first time teachers to read. It gives a great real life perspective of the teaching profession.

Meet the Author
Joan Wink is a professor emerita at California State University, Stanislaus. She lives primarily on the family ranch in South Dakota, but still maintains an active academic life: teaching, consulting, and writing. Her other books include A Vision of Vygotsky (2002), co-authored with Le Putney of UNLV, and Teaching Passionately: What’s Love Got To Do With It? (2004), co-authored with her daughter, Dawn Wink of Santa Fe Community College.
