Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
If you enjoy silly jokes, puns and plays on words, then this compilation of more than a hundred such gags will give you a chuckle. The jokes and riddles are divide into twelve categories. Some of them are just plain silly, such as this: "What do you call a cowboy squid? Billy the Squid." Others require some sophisticated vocabulary and an understanding of synonyms and homonyms, such as: "What fish get married? Sole mates." Black-and-white, humorous illustrations are sprinkled throughout. Aside from kids who enjoy reading these jokes and repeating them to friend and family, teachers could put this book to good use by sharing the "joke of the day" and challenging kids to come up with some jokes of their own. In addition to jokes about sea critters, there are those about animals with fur, hooves, wings and other zany categories. "I'm otter here!" Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
