Overview

Presented as a series of technique-based classes, this clear guide offers thoroughly explained lessons impressively demonstrated with full-color, step-by-step photography. The result of years of dialogue between the Rowan company's workshop demonstrators and the customers they teach, the six workshops presented here allow crocheters to learn new techniques, refresh techniques learned previously, and update their skills. Each workshop includes appropriate projects, proceeding from crochet basics to lessons on joining new yarn, choosing edging patterns, shaping crochet, making crochet lace, using color techniques, and crocheting garments. The final workshop branches out into other appealing forms of crochet such as jewelry making and felted projects.

Editorial Reviews

Interweave Crochet
With its graduated learning style, this is an excellent book for anyone from the first-timer to the more experienced crocheter.
knitsimple
Easy-to-decipher color pictures join written instructions and drawn diagrams, so there's no excuse for not following along and learning the stitches and techniques as they're shown and described.
Library Journal
Crafters familiar with the Rowan company's often over-the-top romantic aesthetic may be surprised that this book by retail manager Brant and crochet workshop organizer Seddon is so straightforward. The projects are basic, and all the techniques are described clearly. The next best thing to an in-person crochet class.

This is a great book! My mom tried to teach me to crochet but I just wasn't getting it and I've tried other books and they left me scratching me head going "what?" I have learned all of the stiches in th first workshop and have started using them in other projects. The lessons on the different stitches are great! They give you step by step instructions as well as pictures to match those steps. This was a Christmas present from my 20 month old and it was the best present I received.

This is a great book for a novice crocheter. I took one crochet class (with an excellent teacher - Linda Permann) and I have used this book to fill in the gaps. The diagrams and details are excellent and what I really appreciate is that it shows you where to place the stitches on an existing row. It is formatted as though you were taking a class, a set of skills and then a practice project. Wonderfully laid out and I am actually crocheting ... A word of advice for any crocheter - the quality of the yarn makes all the difference in the finished project. Buy the best yarn you can afford.
