I have the Knitter's Companion and I LOVE IT. It is easy to use and easy to find things in and a nice shape. This one is the same great shape and sturdiness but the content leaves alot to be desired. The very basic is there but not the natural next step. It is hard to be specific but I know there is alot I don't know about crochet or don't always remember (just like knitting) but I found nothing new or interesting in this book. It fell flat to me - perhaps the author is more of a knitter so that one hit right on what everyone needs to have reference to. All in all I am sending it back and looking further for a more extensive guide. It could work for a beginner but eventually you will outgrow it so why not get a book you can use throughout your crochet lifetime.

This is a very good book to take with you to that vacation cabin and other place on the road. The book is only half the size and easily stands up. Includes all the well-known stitches and troubleshooting. Gets you through all the basics and a little more. Recommend this book for Beginners through Intermediate level crocheting expertise.
