Crone's Moon: A Rowan Gant Investigation

Overview

My name is Rowan Gant, and it has been far too many days since I have heard the voices inside my head... No, I'm not insane-at least I hope I'm not. Actually, what I am is a Witch with a rare talent, even for Witches. I can hear the voices of the dead-murder victims, to be specific. Personally, I consider it less a talent and more a curse, especially given all the grief it brings me. But the cops think otherwise, which is why I find myself consulting for them on a regular basis. In fact, the running joke is that ...

In fact, the running joke is that they should just go ahead and give me a badge. I sometimes fear they might make good on that threat.
However, like I said, it has been a while since any dead people have so much as given me the time of day. I'll be honest, even though I never really wanted them to talk to me in the first place, now that they have stopped it seems almost like a piece of me is missing-a big piece.
As fate would have it, at the same time I've become persona non grata with the dead, it looks as if a serial killer is at work in the St. Louis area. The murders are pretty heinous, too, and that's just the sort of thing that usually turns the rumbling chatter of the victims into a deafening roar and a blinding migraine for yours truly...but not this time, and I have no Earthly-or even unearthly-idea why.
What I do know is the Major Case Squad could benefit from my help on this, but I've got nothing to give them. Nothing at all... Unfortunately, it seems that there is now someone else with my rare affliction instead of me.
I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I want my curse back...

    Sellars does it again!

What a great use of archetypes! While writing a suspense thriller, M. R. Sellars draws you in, and grabs you by the short and curlies! A thrill ride into suspense, M. R. uses his archetypes, while being true to life, to draw you into his world. Fantastic use of the written language to draw the pagan and non-pagan alike into the hunt! As a third-degree High Priest of Wicca/Witchcraft (I'm a witch...and a gasp frickin' man) I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. As I have enjoyed all of his novels. Escapism, pure and simple. Pure. Fricking. Joy! Much more enjoyment than blowing $10-$15 on a movie for the privelege of eating stale, overly salted popcorn and under carbonated soda. I would rather take the tale at my own pace. Any day. I highly recommend this author. Try him, you won't be disappointed!

    Engaging who-done-it

Months have passed since witch Rowan Gant has worked police cases and he hopes that phase of his life is over, but on a subconscious level he knows his fate is to put the bad guys in jail using his psychic powers. His wife Felicity is also a witch but she grounds Rowan so that he never loses his connection to the world. His friend Detective Ben Storm believes in his powers but Lieutenant Barbara Albright, a right wing bible thumper, deems Rowan and Felicity are the Devil¿s tools................... When Rowan starts having seizures, he knows someone is being tortured and he is being called into the case by whoever is being killed. Rowan and Ben witness the kidnapping of the mayor¿s daughter and the mayor wants them on the case much to the chagrin of Albright. Felicity picks up the pain the woman is undergoing before she dies. Next Felicity¿s friend Kathy is captured and tortured; Felicity feels her pain and knows with her spouse and their police friend they must find serial killer although they risk becoming the next victims............................. A Rowan Gant mystery is always a pleasure to read as the audience is taufgt that witches are benign people trying to do good deeds whenever they get a chance. The relationship between Rowan and Felicity is so romantic it is what legends are made of and his friendship with Storm shows that people of different religions can still be good friends. It takes respect for one another and an open mind as shown by Storm¿s trust in Rowan¿s powers. CRONE¿S MOON is an exciting crime thriller with touches of the supernatural that add spice to a flavorful repast........................... Harriet Klausner
