Overview

It's not easy being me.

But my twin sister has no choice.

When I died two months ago, my killer told my twin sister to become me—or else. Now Emma has it down to a T. She tosses her hair with the signature Sutton Mercer flip and can lead a Lying Game prank with the best of them. She's even repairing my relationship with my adoptive family. The only thing she hasn't done is solve my murder.

Then our birth mother, the woman who abandoned us, showed up in Tucson. Emma hasn't seen Becky in twelve years, but Becky recognizes Emma immediately—as Emma. Is it a mother's intuition . . . or does Becky know I'm already gone?

From Sara Shepard, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars books, comes a riveting series about secrets, lies, and killer consequences.

Editorial Reviews

The killer gave Emma a non-negotiable ultimatum: Impersonate your slain twin sister or join her in the grave. At first, the ruse seems to work; no one suspects that a sibling is missing, but then a strange thing happens: The mother who abandoned the family more than a decade before shows up and she refuses to be fooled. Was their mom really behind the murder or is it a mind-boggling case of a mother's intuition? A popular series continues with irresistible suspense.

If I had known there were 8 million books in this series with absolutely nothing exciting happening in any of them, I never would have gotten the first one. Now, I have to continue because I just want to know who the freaking killer is!

The killer is obviously Ethan, he was "home-sicked when Nisha was killed and he has a file in the file cabinet at the psysho ward.

Thayer vs. Ethan: Who should "Sutton"/Emma date? *drumroll* THAYER!!! Whoohoo! He's cute, smart, funny, sweet, and super-loyal! :] Ethan, on the other hand, has no personality and social skills, he snaps at Emma for no reason, and I think he may have killed Sutton.

If you have not read the book....do not read this! My theory is that Eathan is Suttons killer!!!!!!!! Reason 1: He lives really close to the canyon(where sutton was murderd and "droped off") Reason 2: He wanted revenge for the science fair prank Reason 3: He hates sutton Reason 4: He has easy acsess to emma, to leave threat notes Reason 5: He made up a story for the crazy file so emma would bealive him....because she did not read the file. Reason 6: He was suposivly sick the day that he wasnt at school but he was really killing naisha. Reason 7: He went to emmas house to have dinner and he was late so he lied and said that he had to deal with his mom when really he was finishing up with naisha....then he acted like he was supprised to hear that she was killed. I have more facts.... but i will be really supprised if i am wrong. Emma needs to watch out...or she is next.... - panda peace love ;)

If you have not read books 1-4 there may be spoilers. This is by far the best book in the series. It's creepy. It's dark. And like the rest of Sara Shepard's books, it was addictive. I am starting to like Thayer more and more with each book and really starting to hate Ethan. While Thayer is kind and patient, Ethan is short-tempered and manipulative. I thought Ethan was particularly evasive in this book. He would not give Emma direct answers when she asked him questions and he was very smooth when it came to changing the subject. Emma and Sutton's birth mother, Becky has a bigger role in this book and we learn more about her past. Emma continues to pretend to be Sutton, although I don't get how she has managed to make it so long when she and Sutton have two completely different personalities. And it is becoming more and more evident who the murderer is. I will be very surprised if it isn't who I think it is. Also, I was stunned by the ending. I had to read it again to make sure I read it right the first time. Overall, Cross My Heart, Hope To Die was a fantastic book. And with an unexpected ending like that, I'm going to be counting down the days until the final installment in the series comes out in July.

Love this particular book in the series. Gives a good idea who to expect the killer to be. Love the mystery and suspense of all the books

The latest installment of this murder mystery is still able to grab a hold of you and bring you into story. The suspects and their stories are well written and you wonder who the killer is and why. Cannot wait to read the next installment as the list of suspects shortens and the victim list grows.

I found these books very well written personally. I know they are more geared towards teens but it was a nice change of pace and still kept my interest. I recommend this whole series.

I predict that murder will probably be someone minor that was mentioned in like one of the first books. That's what she did with her other books. I just hipe the next book is really the end. They are drug out way to long! Three books would be nice. In my opinion Sara Shepard is nit nearly as good of an author as J K Rowling, therefore should not right long series. That's what ruined PLL for me. It was way too long!
