Katie McGarry captivated readers with her "riveting, emotional"* Young Adult debut, Pushing the Limits. In this gripping novella, she tells the story of Lila and Lincoln, who discover that sometimes it's worth crossing the line for love...
Lila McCormick first met Lincoln Turner when tragedy struck both their lives. But she never expected their surprise encounter would lead to two years of exchanging letters-or that she'd fall for the boy she's only seen once. Their relationship is a secret, but Lila feels closer to Lincoln than anyone else. Until she finds out that he lied to her about the one thing she depended on him for the most.
Hurting Lila is the last thing Lincoln wanted. For two years, her letters have been the only thing getting him through the day. Admitting his feelings would cross a line he's never dared breach before. But Lincoln will do whatever it takes to fix his mistakes, earn Lila's forgiveness-and finally win a chance to be with the girl he loves.

This is not a book...not even sure it can be classified as a novella. Blink and the silly "book" is done. For 1.99 I expected an actual book that takes longer then 30 mins to read. The last 20 pages of this 83 page "book" is an excerpt from Pushing the Limits. I'm feeling pretty let down by this.

It's about Lila (Echo's friend) and Lincoln. They came together because of the death of his brother and Echo's brother. They met the one time but wrote each other for 2 years. He lied and hurt her. But never fear it all worked out in the end. I recommend this to any who enjoys the author writing style and the series.

So im just reading the book and the next thing i know its over... i look down at the page number and the whole books only 83 pages. 20 of witch are of other books.... i guess with this author i just thought the book would be great. Epic even... and for that i give it three stars... just when i was starting to get into it it was over. There were also odd things to like what girl just out of high school had never stayed home a night with out her parents and is super scared to.... other then tha the book was a cute short read. I wouldnt have minded more lincoln he came off as a sexy as hell guy. But in the end all i see is a great plot and story line that could have took off and been a great love story but the author let it slip through her fingers. Also the quirk that the author decided to make her main character a paranoid schizophrenic.

I was looking foward to another one of her books but i found this one lacking and way too short 20 of the 83 pages were credits or samples of the other two books

Well, Novella, technically. It is leaving me wondering why I never read them in the past (well, before Destroy me anyways.) Though it is not as dark as the others, it still had similar elements and I enjoyed being in Echo's town.
There are full fleshed out characters. I wondered and had plenty of questions as reading and in the end, just wish that I had more time with them, but i have a feeling that I would still that way after even 300 pages with them.
I had to know the lie that Lincoln told and once I figured that out why he told it. I really understood in the end though, and can see how he got himself into that situation.
I also appreciated Lila and left wondering about her terror of being alone. That was never really fully explained, but I guess that anxiety and no previous experience can explain. Although with her character, I was bit confused in the very beginning because I read date you to first and Beth's friend Lacy was stuck in my head and I was wondering for a minute where Lincoln came from then realized Lila was echo's best friend. But that is totally on me! Too many L names :)
There was some pretty hot scenes, and I got a good feel on their history from snippits of letters at the beginning of the chapters.
The ending was good though I wish that I knew how they ended up.
Bottom Line: Great novella.

I loved Pushing the Limits so when I heard Katie McGarry was writing a short story about Echo's best friend I knew I had to read it. I also knew it would be good, but I never expected to love it this much.
Lila and Lincoln have been writing each other lettters for 2 years now and this book describes what happens when they become more than friends. At first I felt like I was missing a bit of their backgorund, because we didn't got to read about their letters and how they became friends, but soon I was completely pulled into the story. We actually do get a sense of their background and their letters because each chapter starts with a letter or at least part of one. I liked getting to know a bit of their past that way and getting to know the characters. They are so perfect for each other and I just loved their story. Ofcourse I wished it was longer, because it is just so good and I just want to read more.
Lila and Lincoln are both amazing character even though the story isn't that long I stil got a good sense who they are, how their family situation is and what their dreams are. I liked both of them and I think they are perfect for each other. I liked how Lila was afraid of the dark, but she did her best to overcome that fear. And how Lincoln makes a great mistake, but he actually learn from it and tries his best to make sure everything will be okay.
The romance was so sweet and I loved how they had a past of being friends and writing letters and how they would meet again now. They are so important to each other and even though they only met once before they really know each other.
To conclude: I loved this short story. It's almost as good as Pushing the Limits and really the only thing that would make it better would be to make it longer, because except for that it is just awesome. Lila and Lincoln are great characters and they make a great couple, I really enjoyed reading their story!
Great characters, good story, but short! The length fits the timeline (Lila and Lincoln only have a few days together), but it still left me wanting more of their story. Still, it's a nice filler between Pushing the Limits and Dare You To, and worth the read.
