Overview

A Song of Love won her heart.
A Song of Darkness haunted her soul.
A Song in the Dance would seal her fate.

Seers had long foreseen an extraordinary destiny for Ellysetta Baristani. Already she had won the heart of the Fey King—the magnificent Rain, ever her ally, eternally her love. She had saved the offspring of the magical tairen and fought beside her legendary mate against the armies of Eld. But the most powerful—and dangerous—Verse of her Song had yet to be sung. As the final battle draws nigh and evil tightens its grip upon her soul—will Ellysetta secure the world for Light or plunge it into Darkness for all eternity? As she and Rain fight for each other, side by side, will they find a way to complete their truemate bond and defeat the evil High Mage of Eld before it's too late, or must they make the ultimate sacrifice to save their world?

Meet the Author

C. L. Wilson wrote her first story at age six, and though she took a number of long detours during her life, she never gave up her lifelong dream of being published. Many years, hundreds of false starts, and five completed novels later, she received "The Call" in October 2006 and sold her epic fantasy romance, Tairen Soul, at auction. Her debut novel spent two weeks on the USA Today bestseller list, and her subsequent novels have gone on to hit a variety of lists, including USA Today, New York Times, and Publishers Weekly.

When not writing, C. L. enjoys relaxing with her husband and three children in sunny Florida and daydreaming of a world where people exercise in their sleep and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream is a fat-burning food.

superb climax to the strong quartet

At a time when the adversary, the malevolent Eld Mages, seems not just ready to attack, but overwhelmingly poised to win, the alliance between the Fey and Celieran splinters. At the same they fear their side will break apart the alliance, Rain Tairen Soul and Ellysetta Baristani struggle on a personal issue as they have failed to finish their mating bond, which if not done soon will lead to their deaths.

Meanwhile the Malevolent High Mage Vadim Maur knows his scheme is working as everything is coming together. The conquest has begun as his evil horde marches across the fading lands killing anything in their way and leaving wanton destruction behind. Ellysetta refuses to give up on love, on her people, on the alliance and on herself as she plans to write her destiny in order to save those she cherishes.

The finale to the great Tairen Song saga is a superb climax to the strong quartet. Somehow C.L. Wilson ties up the overarching fantasy on a larger than life plane yet this brilliant author also provides a deep personal look at the key players in a desperate quest to save their world risking their lives. Only the love between Rain Tairen Soul and Ellysetta Baristani keeps this pair going against the hopelessness of the overwhelming darkness that engulfs their world.

    A most satisfying journey

I learned about the Tairen series from an Amazon thread. The first book 'Lord of the Fading Land' pulled me in, and the story really picked up the steam with the second book that I almost ended up devouring the whole series in a sitting. I don't think it does the author justice to call the five books 'paranormal romance'. The stories were reminiscent of Tolkien but much darker and grimmer. Whereas Tolkien alluded to the dark descent of some of the elves and the torture inflicted on his heroes and heroines, C.L. Wilson actually goes one layer deeper, without being graphic, to lay bare the suffering of the captives and the fall into descent of previously 'light' beings. When I finished reading 'Crown of Crystal Flame', I could only sit back in admiration at how she managed to create this completely new world and bring all the disparate pieces together into a satisfying finale. A most satisfying journey.

    Torn...

I wanted TO LOVE this final book...and didn't get to. The story was very LOTRish, and by the time the 7,000,000th good person died - I needed a break and something good to happen. I received neither. Plus, a favorite character was killed off! [and a few awesome others] Now, I understand characters die in stories, especially in war, it wasn't that. It was: if you're gonna make me absolutely love someone[s]...as a reader, subconsiously...I WANT them to live. Not be stunned in shock and having my heart ripped out in devistating pieces! [that's where my interest died] I read the rest just because. Our favorite characters were still tough, still full of testerone, and still super sexy...of course, so that helped. And the writing was done well, as usual. I was sad, I cheered, I boo'd, and I giggled. I just WISH we got more from Rain & Ellie in the end, and Shann & Elfaya. All I can recall was a few pages of "Hey, let's bond...", "Okay..." and then they just take off??? THE END! I hope Bel & Gaelen's stories include a few things about Rain & Ellie, and thier kittlings, and other things just kinda left hanging... =] Kieran & Keil, too. Overall it was a good series, with a 50/50 happy ending.

Wonderful conclusion to the series, but left me wanting more

Crown of crystal flame was extremely fast paced and battle/adventure packed. It provides a lovely ending to Rain and Ellysetta's Romance along with the fate of the fading lands. However, the book leaves you hanging about Bel, Galen, Kierran, Kiel, and other characters. I would love to see a sequel or something that tells the story of these characters. Maybe something like 10 years later in the fading lands and Celeria. The book met my expectations and I couldn't put it down.

Whole series, just full of wow, omg, and yes yes yes!

I loved this series and I usually don't read fantasy, but these books were full of win. I do hope that she gives us a future book though featuring Mellisandra and Gaelan. That was one thing that wasn't tied up and I hate loose ends. Otherwise awesomesauce!

    ??

A pale golden shecat with swirls of color darted into the clearing. "Jet!" She hissed, turning to reveal bright green eyes. "Jet!" She repeated.
"Hi, Lightningspirit!" A pitch black tom with red spots and silvery-blue eyes was sitting on a fallen log. He looked to be about 6 moons.
"Jet!" Lightningspirit called. "We need to get out of here!"
"Why?" Whined Jet. "I like this place!"

    Amazing novel!

This series is amazing, and I have reread the whole thing 3 times just this year! The epic conclusion to Ellies and Rains quest to fufill their bond and defeat the evil that haunts them made me laugh out loud, cry, and feel like I experienced every dramatic moment as if I was there for every exciting moment.the whole series is 5 stars, and I will continue to reread it because it is a stunning piece of work!
