Overview

From New York Times Bestseller, Pepper Winters, comes a delicious sinful hero.

“I met the man I wanted. But then he vanished, and a new man claimed me instead. My father approved, my colleagues congratulated, and behind closed doors, I was bedded by a stranger.”

Noelle Charlston lives a fairy-tale life: a doting father, a powerful job, and a future blessed with financial security.

However, two meetings with two men changes her happy existence forever. First, she meets the man who makes her heart sing. Three years later, she meets the man who makes her blood quiver.

Broken-hearted from a teenage romance, Noelle’s freedom is no longer hers. It belongs to the stranger her father believes is her perfect match. The stranger who pulls his lies over everyone he touches.

Including her.

Seduced and manipulated, Noelle gives into the mysterious Penn Everett. The lies he spins, the truth he hides, the mystery he weaves—it’s all enough to slowly erode the woman she is and turn her into something else.

Until her past collides with her present.

And it’s her turn to lie.

To everyone…including herself.

I'm such a massive Pepper Winters fan and this blew me away. The writing seems to captivate you and you get lost in the story because the words just flow and make you take in each one. Noelle aka Elle's character I loved, she is strong when needed but is somewhat naive in other ways. She leads somewhat of sheltered life until she takes it upon herself to see life on her own on her 19th birthday, but this only brings her into danger, or does it? Sometimes meeting a "nameless" stranger can have more of an impact on your life, even more when it's people you've known for years, this is what happens to Elle. "Nameless" awakens something within Elle. Fast forward three years and Penn Everett comes into Elle's life, he makes her promises "I won't lie to you". Penn reminds Elle of "Nameless" and again Penn brings something out in Elle. For me I was in a love/hate with Penn, he is delicious, he's everything and more until he made you doubt him and yourself. This is the perfect book, the writing, the twists and all the things that has you questioning yourself, it's dark with deceptions of who wears the Crown of Lies the best and tortures you with the mystery of what is going to happen next and I can't wait for the conclusion, because for now I'm still on a high.

Crown of Lies shreds your thoughts from the first page to the last. Maybe lies are better than the truth...or could it be that for Elle the lies are what protects her? Protects her from a truth that is far worse to acknowledge. One night... that changes her life forever. One night that continually haunts her thoughts....some she would rather push away and some she quietly welcomed. Then she met Penn Everett.... Who was he? Or had she already made his acquaintance sometime before? Was he the man she longed for or was he someone one far more sinister? Trust me......you'll want to know the truth and you'll want to read this book from Pepper Winters. 5 stars an incredible read

Crown of Lies by Pepper Winters is the first book in her brand new Truth and Lies duet. Christ this woman can write some fantastic stories! Elle is the star of this story and we get two phases in her life - her nineteenth birthday when everything just went horribly wrong except for the nameless boy that saved her life and set her soul on fire. And today, when she is fully in control of her families multi-generational department story dynasty and has the world at her fingertips but still longs for that one nameless boy. Spoilers and all that - this story is amazeballs, ends in a cliffhanger and the next book will be out February 28, 2017 (Throne of Truth). Enjoy!

Crown of Lies is a very intriguing book. It's a story of a young woman, Elle, who is groomed from a very early age to take over her family's business. She's lived a very sheltered life, but one night she decides to throw caution to the wind and go exploring the streets of New York. She meets a mysterious young man who rescues her from a bit of danger, and together they begin a little adventure. Elle never knows this stranger's name and she never forgets him or the time they shared that one fateful night. Fast forward three years and Elle is a high profile CEO and still very much living in her gilded cage of responsibility. She meets another mysterious man, Penn Everett, and they begin a whirlwind relationship full of lies, deceit and scorching hot passion. Elle is confused by Penn, she doesn't trust him completely and doesn't understand his motivations. She's torn between her feelings for the man she met years ago that rescued her, and this man with a curious past who lies and manipulates everyone around him, but still the draw to him is undeniable. Who is Penn Everett? That's the million dollar question. He's definitely a beguiling character and I can't wait to find out more about him. Crown of Lies ends in a cliffhanger, so be warned. There are a lot of unanswered questions that will leave you aching for more, but the sequel is due out very soon. I really enjoyed this book. I love the writing style of Pepper Winters, she knows how to weave a tale that leaves you breathless and anxious for more. I can't wait to see how this story ends! ARC kindly provided to me by author, but my review is voluntary and my opinion honest

CROWN OF LIES is the first installment in Pepper Winters’s contemporary, new adult CROWN OF LIES Duet focusing on heiress and business woman Noelle ‘Elle’ Charlston, and Penn Everett. NOTE: CROWN OF LIES contains scenes violence and assault that may be triggers for some more sensitive readers. Told from first person point of view (Noelle ‘Elle’ Charlston) CROWN OF LIES covers ten years in the life of billionaire heiress Elle Charlston as she navigates the business world for which she is trained. At twelve years of age our heroine’s destiny is mapped out by the only man that she loves; at nineteen, hoping to experience a few hours of freedom in New York, Elle becomes the victim of a sexual assault only to be rescued by a ‘Nameless’ person who demands a few moments of her time. Fast forward three more years and Elle Charlston is now the CEO of Belle Elle- a family owned business passed down through her father’s heirs, and a woman who struggles with the personal side of her life. Unable to forget about the man who ‘saved’ her life, Elle becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth. Enter Penn Everett, a man who demands all that is Elle, but a man so familiar our heroine has difficulty saying no. What ensues is the battle between the past and the present; two men waging war for the affections of our story line heroine; and a darker more sinister struggle for a woman whose naivete perpetuates a series of dangerous encounters, and pathological lies. CROWN OF LIES is a dark, erotic tale of romance where one woman discovers that the world in which she lives is unlike anything she could have ever expected. A successful business woman who falls into the proverbial rabbit-hole and has a difficult time climbing back to the top. Elle Charlston is a victim of her circumstance that is exacerbated by a father who is caught up in his own problems and thusly is missing the bigger picture. Both father and daughter are manipulated through a series of secrets and lies ; the ramifications of presumptive relationships; and one woman who will be victimized over and over by two men who profess to want the future but a future that entails power and control……but saying that there are some questionable decisions made by our heroine that place her in the direct line of fire where her safety is concerned. Innocent, naïve and too trusting Elle Charlston will become the prey in a game of betrayal, revenge, and winner take all. The premise is dark and intense; the romance is ill-fated: the characters are tragic, hostile and tormented. CROWN OF LIES ends on a cliffhanger-you have been warned.

One of the things I love so much about a Pepper Winters book, is that I never know what to expect. She pushes all of my boundaries and provides me with the most unexpected love stories. Stories that suck me, captivate me and leave me utterly breathless. Crown of Lies was a thrilling and exciting read. I am at a total loss for words, in the absolute best way. This story is incredibly well written and fascinating. It will take you on an intense and seductive journey. Crown of Lies will leave you breathless and on the edge of your seat. Your mind will searching and begging for answers. Your heart will be begging for the truth and a happy ending. However, if you're like me and a fan of Pepper Winters work, than you know that the road to happily ever after isn't going to be an easy one. Our characters are going to have to fight for their love. They are going to endure impossible situations and mind-blowing twists. But, in the end, it will be 100% totally worth it. Now, I know I haven't told you much about Crown of Lies and that is because you honestly need to experience this book for yourself. I am at a loss for words, because I have never experienced a Pepper Winters book quite like this. It was everything and more. It was thrilling, brilliant, and sexy. It was seductive and left me with a million questions that I am desperate for the answers to. This story is so fresh and exciting and I honestly can not wait to get my hands on the conclusion. I just know it's going to be epic.

Pepper Winters has outdone herself yet again! She has a unique talent of giving her readers stories that are supremely well-written, sensual, mysterious, intriguing, intense, addicting, enthralling, consuming, and suspenseful. In Crown of Lies, Ms. Winters weaves a story of secrets, lies, deception, loss, trust, lust, love; with characters that stay with you long after you are done with the book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

I absolutely and thoroughly loved the extraordinary, exceptional, and suspenseful first book in the series romance story by the phenomenally talented Pepper Winters. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy. Noelle (Elle) Charlston is in charge of her father's company, always working and no time to date or have fun. Elle goes out in the town by herself without her bodyguard, two men attempt to rape her, a Nameless man saves her. Years later, she meets an arrogant, man, Penn, completely opposite from the Nameless man, who only wants one thing from her her body. Read the highly recommended, beautifully written, engaging, intriguing, and riveting story line that captures the reader from the first page until the last page anticipating the second story in the series, and a must read story of Elle's mysterious men in her life.

The story was with very basic writing that I cannot stand. Save your money.

This book was a thrill from the start. I'm already biased as I love everything Pepper does as an author but it's because she's simply brilliant. I grabbed on with both hands, I twisted and turned with Elle through her tumult. I screamed in my head at the things that would only be obvious to an outside spectator all the while being hoodwinked and loving every minute of it. The realization of what was happening hit me to late... and now all that's left to do is wait. And I'll do so with baited breath because this story is worth every minute of it. Elle is fabulously coming into her own, Penn is as dark and glorious as any of the dream men Pepper fabricates and I am as impressed as ever with tge depth of character and plot created! An excellent job done! Don't pass this story up for any reason, read it and read it now.
