Meet the Author

I am a British author. I moved to France around ten years ago, and that's when I turned my hobby into a career. I'm fortunate to be represented by New York agent Richard Curtis.

I share my home with two crazy dogs that like nothing better than to drag their masterful leader (that's me) around the village.

I hope you enjoy reading my books, especially the Justice series, Cruel Justice, Impeding Justice,Final Justice,Foul Justice and the newest addition, Guaranteed Justice. Ultimate Justice is due out in Feb 2013.

If you'd like to keep up to date with new releases you can find me on facebook by following this link http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mel-Comley/264745836884860

If you fancy a lighter read, why not try one of my romances: A Time to Heal, and A Time for Change--Based on a TRUE story. I also have a selection of short stories and novelettes available which I know you'll enjoy.

This a very violent, almost sickening so, novel. It has about 250 pages. It us a murder mystery and all actions are extremely descriptive. I will tell you a bit about the prolog and you can decide if you want to read to this book from that and I wont be giving anything away. This is an across the pond mystery. There is a lot of English slang and grammer. The editing is okay. This novel starts out with a kidnapped woman, being tortured. She is in an underground room, being attended to by a man and woman. She is starving, being denied food and water. She is forced to eat her own excrement, then beaten to death, her head is removed with a hand saw. The details are pretty explicit. Before she dies, she dies, she asks what she has done, but is not told, her questions, cause her captors to become enraged. This noir mystery is very violent and I found it disturbing. It made me nervous and nauseous at times. There are a lot of adult themes. It is well edited and written. The main characters are hard and inured against the horrors they must deal with every day. This is a very intense read. For adults, ages 18 and up. This English/British novel is not chick lit. It is more rooster lit. AD

My first book by a British author, and I loved it. Once I got past the differences in spelling, I found the differences in American Law Enforcement and British Law Enforcement fascinating.  Add to that great characters and an action packed thriller; and I couldn't put it down.  I would compare DI Lorne Simpkins to James Patterson's Alex Cross. A wonderful character I look forward to following through many more adventures.

I am so excited to have such a great new detective series to follow. DI Lorne Simpkins is a wonderful character to read. She is fiesty and tears into her work with gusto, not wanting to stop until she gets the bad "arse." Her partner, Pete, is the perfect counterpart to her and they make a wonderful combo. Lorne has some flaws, which only gives her characters more depth and realism. As a workaholic in a stressful job, she is trying to balance family life but still keep street crime under control. There is such a wonderful balance between these two separate storylines and it only adds to the character development. You end up feeling like you have known these people for years. That is such a hard thing to accomplish for a writer, and this just makes a reader not able to put down this book until the very last scene. Just when you think you know where this book is heading, it takes an about turn, something I think Comley must enjoy doing to her readers. She obviously likes to keep us on the edge of our seats! I am so excited there are 3 more Justice books available because Lorne Simpkins is someone I want to read a lot more about.

Gritty and intense! This is the first book of the Justice Series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a fan of British Crime shows such as MI-5, so this was right up my alley. DI Lorne Simpkins is tough and hard-edged, but she's perfect for the part. The pace is fast, the action is intense. I'm looking forward to reading this series.

I stopped reading this book when came upon the first (?) graphic sex scene. I wanted a good mystery. This appears to be pornography. If you like that sort of genre, this is your book.

Guess you get what you pay for. Glad this was free. This book is disgusting, don't read on a full stomach. I lasted to the third page and thought this trash must be aimed at people with fecal fetish.

I have now read all 7 of the Justice series, I am starting number 8. I found it very interesting reading, this was the first time reading a British author. I as I was reading it was like I was there, I could see what the author was talking about. By the time I was finished the first book I was looking for the others. I enjoyed Di Lorne Simpkins character very much she is a hard nose cop that know what has to be done and gets it done.

This book was a very intense read. It was about a sadistic seriel killer. At some points of the book I was so frightendd I had to stop reading and take a break. Money well spent 600 pages of a well written story with a strong female lead character.. I can not wait to read the next one in the series

The main character doesn't always make the right decision. That's what makes her so likable. Nice easygoing relationship with her work partner.

Meet DI Lorne Simpkins as she undertakes her worst case yet. A headless body is discovered only for the head to be delivered later as a piece of a horrible puzzle that needs to be solved. As the body count rises, so do tensions in Lorne's personal life, as well as, those on the job. Will Lorne be able to get the job done and find this killer before her own life falls to pieces? Follow Lorne as she and her partner Pete Childs follow the clues realizing that sometimes justice can be cruel.

While the story was interesting and had a lot of possibilities, the characters seemed underdeveloped and stereotypical. There are a lot of sub plots that seemed to be randomly tossed in that made for a jumpy annoying story

Very detailed in the victims descriptions of death. This is one book that after you are finished reading, you will be looking for the next book by M Comley to get started on. Keeps your interest and would highly recommend it.
