Another in Increase Records' multi-volume series spotlighting vintage rock & roll radio DJs, Cruisin' 1958 features St. Louis mic personality Jack Carney of WIL and a fine mix of hits including Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" and the Champs' "Tequila." These and the album's several other chart-toppers certainly can be found on more substantial roundups, but one would miss out on a live studio mix that takes in vintage ads Mercury cars, Old Spice, Gillette, station jingles, plugs for local concerts, and the College of Musical Knowledge contest.
