OK, to be perfectly and completely honest, I wasn't expecting to like this as much as Lacey Weatherford's Of Witches and Warlocks series. So far I've loved everything she's ever written, but I generally prefer fantasy to contemporary. So, I expected to love it, just not quite as much. Hah. I was wrong. This is probably Lacey's best novel yet. For characters, you have sweet, thoughtful Cami, mysterious, troubled Hunter and geeky, unsettling Clay. I really loved Cami. She's very kind and naive to the point of obliviousness at times, but there's a fierce stubborn streak that only comes out when you push her a little too far. I thought upon first meeting him that I wasn't going to like Hunter much. He has issues like you wouldn't believe, including drug use and drinking. Despite that, you can't help but like him. He makes you laugh, he makes you sad, he makes you want to hit him upside the head in frustration, but most of all, you want to discover his secret. I came up with all sorts of theories with everything from, oh no, he's a vampire! to, hmm, is he in witness protection? Clay is a fantastically written character. He's been Cami's best friend forever, but now he wants to be more. From the first scene with him, he gave me the shivers. The, oh dear, this is going to be sooo messy kind of shiver. The first half of the book is mostly about Cami, though the POV alternates with Hunter. The plot moves at a marvelous pace, growing in suspense even as the focus shifts over to Hunter for the second half. And then that ending! So. Freaking. Awesome. It just pounces on you, and you think, so that's what was going on! It all makes sense now! I wanted to cheer, but it was ridiculously early in the morning and I didn't want to wake anybody up. Whether or not you've read Lacey's other books, whether or not you like contemporary YA, you'll like Crush. It was fun, serious and adventurous all at once. I received an advance e-copy from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. Thanks, Lacey!!!

I have been hearing about this book on facebook for a while now and when Lacey Weatherford asked if I'd like to read and review it, I immediately said YES. I'm so glad I did. For one thing, hello beautiful boy on the cover! Talk about cover love, he's too good looking to pass up reading about him, in my opinion. Add the synopsis about these seeming opposites and their attraction and Ms. Weatherford had me intrigued. I was completely hooked on this book from the very beginning. Weatherford's characters are enchantingly real, immensely likable and they lure you in and capture your heart. Cami is a strong heroine and I really admired her for her unflinching morals and compassion. She cares enough about herself to stick to her principles and not be someone's doormat but she's never cruel or judgmental. Then we have Hunter. He is so much more than swoon-worthy, I'm not sure I can find a word strong enough to describe him. He is gorgeous, yes, of course-but he is so much more, too. He's sweet, smart and just a tad bit dangerous-the kind of guy the "good" girls love to daydream about but don't dare go near. I adore him. I love a good romantic novel laced with suspense and danger and Crush is all that and more. Perfectly paced and plotted, there was no lull in the action. I had to force myself to put the book down when it was way past my bedtime. Weatherford has crafted what I consider to be the perfect book and I am looking forward to many re-reads in the future.~Mel

Quick Review -Spoiler Free 4 STARS out of 5 Genre: YA Romance Cami Wimberley is a good girl and nothing is gonna change her reputation, not even when she starts dating Hunter Wilder the school bad boy. 'Yes, this girl was beautiful, and it was obvious I liked her....a lot. The truth was I really have no business messing with her. Red warning flags were dropping all over, and suddenly I felt like I was standing right in the middle of a potential minefield. One wrong step and everything would explode in the worst way possible, and it would be a bloody friggin disaster.' ~Inner monologue of Hunter So, what can I say with out giving much away??? Here goes... Cami is known for her "goody two shoe" ways. She doesn't party, cut class, do drugs or hang with the in crowd. Nope she gets good grades, goes to class on time and she's in band class. Her best friend Clay is a total dork infamously known for wearing his pocket protector. And even though Cami is gorgeous she is marked a "nerd" by association. She could careless though, her and Clay have been best friends since Kindergarten and nothing can change that. Enter Hunter Wilde, the new boy known for his bad boy ways such as partying, getting high and being a womanizer. His CRUSH on Cami starts to get the best of him... And after a rash spontaneous decision he finds himself asking her out on a date. He knows that he has no time for a girlfriend nor does he need one. In fact he has been averting the whole girlfriend thing for a while now. It's something about her...that he just can't resist. "There's just something about you that I like. I'm suffering from 'Moth to a flame' syndrome, I guess. Russ teases me about it. He calls you my eye candy." ~Hunter Thoughts CRUSH had me a little on edge with it's twist and mystery plot. I know this is a storyline that I have seen before; yet I felt the author gave it her own nice little twist. This book gets four stars because the writing was good, the plot was suspenseful and I enjoyed the romance. My Ratings Characters- Lovable Writing Style- Witty and Clever Plot/Storyline- Sweet romance with Mild suspense Steam Factor- PG-13 Overall- I liked it!! You should check it out!!!

This is a weird one. The writing was OK but cliche and the story was predictable. And for some reason, I found Crush by Lacey Weatherford, oddly endearing. I'm not sure if endearing is the right word. It was more like I was loving a "b movie". The setting is high school and there is a stereotypical bad boy. He is involved in the "drug scene". He actually refers to it as " I am involved in the drug scene." And the question kept coming up "Are you using?" I felt like I was in the 80's with Reagan's Dare to Say No To Drugs campaign. He also keeps using ridiculously corny lines like, "His goose is cooked". Not once, but twice! And the main girl is obviously smart and unattainable, but she just thinks she is dorky with wild red hair (read "wild red hair" kinda breathy-like. Come On! I was actually talking to the book...out loud, saying "Come On!" I felt like a dude yell at the ref on the big screen during Monday Night Football. My husband was laughing at me, wondering why I just wasn't putting it down. I couldn't though. I wanted to see it through. Was it really going to come to its inevitable end or would we be thrown for a twist. How many out of date expressions were going to be used? Was he really going to be able to stop at just kissing? So I tromped forward on my quest to get to the end. O, I had questions that needed answers and I got them! All-in-all, I was fully entertained but if you have a big TBR list, this one might not be for you. P.S. I am telling you though, I am laughing and having a god 'ol time just thinking back on it now as I write this. Sometimes that is exactly what I need in life.

I thought "Crush" was a really good book. I kind of was able to figure out how the ending was gonna go, and I wish it was longer and easier to follow, but it was overall a good book. I just wish it left me guessing more than it did.

Okay, so I haven't finished reading this book yet, and it's really good and a cute story, but the way the teens are talking is driving me insane. Teens don't just say their feeings like that or talk so proper or say "canoodling" or "schmoozer." Also the texting is annoying with all the GR8s and U and 2nite. I've never known anyone to actually type like that, and it's hilarious that authors think teens really talk and text like that.

i honestly love romantic novels. this story gave me chills and left me wanting to read more. The characters the authors picked because it really creates the story and changes the feel of it. when dylan revealed his true identity i was just in so much shock and when cami’s own best friend tried to rape her! i did not see that coming!! the way dylan cared about and loved cami so much that he would do anything for her really hooked my attention as too theirs not many guys like that now a days she had something special and i thought cami was gonna leave him since he’s older and was lying but true love can do miracles. honestly on my favorite books i continued reading the other versions i just couldn’t resist not finding out whats gonna happen next.
