In CRUSHING ON LOVE...
Steve Johnson is living his life's passion watching over the Colorado Mountains as a ranger and wildlife consultant. But his peaceful life is upended when overzealous and insanely beautiful Shannon Braden flits back into his life after returning from a brief trip home to Maryland. He thought his attraction to her was under control--after all, she's only in Colorado temporarily, and he doesn't do casual affairs.

Shannon's return to Colorado has as much to do with the game of cat and mouse she and Steve have been playing as it does the data she's been hired to collect. But despite her efforts to explore the undeniable heat simmering between them, Steve's intent on keeping his distance.

When a ranch abutting the national park goes up for sale, Steve will do whatever it takes to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. And when all his attempts fail, he's left with no alternative but to follow Shannon's guidance into the online world he abhors in order to raise the funds. The more time they spend together, the deeper their attraction becomes, and a game of cat and mouse turns into an unstoppable connection. But when Shannon's assignment comes to an end, will it mean an end to them, too?

Crushing on Love (The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor): Shannon Braden 4.7 out of 5 based on 0 ratings. 55 reviews.
JulieGB More than 1 year ago
When Shannon Braden was offered the job of researching red fox in the Colorado Mountains, she jumped at the opportunity. Not only did she have a passion for that type of work, she equally had a passion for Steve Johnson, the mountain man she’d see every day. Although they were total opposites, a social butterfly and a loner, there was no denying the attraction between them. Even though Shannon will only be there a few weeks, they both decide to pursue a relationship, agreeing that it will only be until she goes back home to Peaceful Harbor. But when the time comes to leave, will either of them be able to honor the agreement? It won’t be easy. Shannon was adorable with her non-stop jabbering, and who can resist a hunky mountain man. I loved their nicknames for each other, and all the little secrets they shared between them. It would have been so fun to be around all the characters in the story. They are all so friendly and approachable. And I always like catching up with Braden couples from previous reads.

4th in a series, but can be read as a stand-alone This is the fourth in The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor series, each is a stand-alone, but have inter-connecting characters/storylines. What a fun read! I absolutely loved the connection that Steve and Sharon had from the very beginning. It was amusing to watch them interact, they both are so stubborn and blind to what they have! Lol! It was nice that there wasn't too much angst in this, but definitely plenty of heat & ahhhh-romance to make the pages fly to see what happens between these two. I loved this book and look forward to what Ms. Foster has in store for us in Whisper of Love!!

Steve Johnson was happy, living in the Colorado Mountains as a Ranger and wildlife consultant. That is until Shannon Braden turned up, talking about mile a minute, driving him crazy and researching red foxes. But this wasn't the first time Steve had met Shannon, he met her at her cousins Rex's wedding and his passions flared for her the moment that he saw her. But now she is back and Steve doesn't know if he can resist her this time, even though it will kill him when she leaves for good. Shannon Braden wants Steve, but he seems to reject her at every turn, but when she comes back from her trip to Peaceful Harbor, Steve seems different, especially when he licks pink frosting off her finger. But when Steve's walls finally crumble, the passion explodes between them, their loves blooms father than either of them realize. But when it's time for Shannon to leave, will they be content with a long distance relationship or will it fizzle out as fast as it started. STOP THE PRESS!! This book is my official favorite Melissa Foster book ever!!...well at least until the next one is released! Let's put it this way! I love it so much I bought it in paperback! This book is pure love! The story of these almost long distance lovers reminded me of how I "dated" my husband while I was back home in the UK and he was here. When it came to the characters; I absolutely loved Steve aka "Grizz", because he fully lived up to that name. I loved the was he resisted Shannon in the beginning, but realized, soon after she was back that he couldn't live without her and that he was willing to risk his heart for her. I think Shannon is one of the sweetest heroines that the author has ever written. I loved her nervous chatter and her determination to bring Steve into the age of technology is so funny! When it comes to the writing and plot, it's everything I have come to expect from Melissa Foster! Smoothly written, without plot holes and the plot is divine and you feel like you are right there! I give Crushing on Love 5 stars!

I haven't read the previous books in this series yet, but I'm definitely curious about them now. Steve and Shannon were every bit as stubborn as they were lovable. Shannon's life is in Peaceful Harbor on the East Coast. Steve's is in the Colorado mountains. They have this extreme pull to each other and palpable chemistry. And these two were quite naughty in the bedroom, let me tell you. Their story was fun though. I loved their personalities and attitude, and they work together really well. They make a good team, but neither of them wants to leave their lives. So, they decide to let these few weeks of together be it for them. They'll get each other out of their systems right? You'll have to read it to find out. The ARC of Crushing on Love by Melissa Foster was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

Steve and Shannon are the perfect match and I loved seeing them fall in love! Their pet names are too cute and fit their personalities perfectly. There is a lot of heart and humor as well as steam. As a matter of fact, I think this may be the hottest of the Love in Bloom series. Steve is one of the most sensitive and sweet heroes while still being hot and sexy. Can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

When I want to read a romantic, funny, passionate story with a book by Melissa Foster never wrong. Steve lives in Colorado mountains, loves the quiet and secluded life, to be alone with himself. Shannon, a friend of Steve's sister, is temporarily in Colorado to perform a research. She is the typical city girl who loves to surrounded by people. He is very attracted to her but can't give in, they are very different and she will stay there for a few days. But his heart is not in agreement with his head. Shannon and Steve are a perfect couple, very well-matched, I really loved their moments of passion. Charming, lovable characters, engaging plot, amazing setting, witty dialogue is hard not to love this novel. Can be read as a standalone although it is the fourth book in this series, you don't need to have read the previous books I definitely recommend this one.

I’m not sure Melissa Foster and I can be friends after reading this addition to the series. I loved it so much. I read about 16% the first night; forced myself to put it down; and was up until 3am the next night finishing it because there just wasn’t a good enough spot to ‘pause’ for the night. I liked Shannon. She is a city girl, but not your stuck up city girl. She is a tomboy so she can rough it too. Steve. Yum. Grizz fits him alright. He is very hard headed, but I pictured him as a burly mountain man that is a big ol’ teddy bear too. The sense of love, caring and belonging is always so strong in Melissa’s books and it makes me want to jump in and be apart of it all. What I wouldn’t give to live in a community like Weston and have friends and family like everyone has. I have to tell you; the emotions in this book are unlike any others in the series. I actually cried. Shed tears. I could feel the confusion and pain that Shannon was going through and a certain scene with her family made me literally cry. My heart hurt for her. I love all of Melissa’s books and will continue to read them. I always know there is going to be a happy ending, but every character has their own traits and flaws; every story has their own story; every person has their own past. Regardless of the happily ever after; there is always a rollercoaster of emotions that lead me to it and I love it!

Shannon is a charmer! I love how she manages to be both focused and flighty at the same time. She is a nature researcher (not a job I would want--sitting in silence staring at fox dens--no way, not for me!). Steve is a mountain rescue man. Seems like a textbook case of the perfect match. But is life ever that easy? Of course not! Steve is an introvert and Shannon is most definitely an extrovert. Not a match made in heaven for sure. I really liked how Foster worked her magic and showed not only true love, but all the difficulties that opposites attracting creates.

Patiently waiting for that one kiss and boom!!! The flame never stop after one kiss. It took so long but it is worth the wait. Steve drives me crazy and so as Shannon. This man will tease your patience and it worked pretty good. He has to guard his heart even though Shannon play it all for him out there. I thought I will throw my Nook away, good thing I didn't and wait when the magic happens. Steve and Shannon's world is so different. A mountain man meet a city girl but their chemistry is undeniable. This story is so beautiful, so hot and full of compassion to save a piece of land. Social medias really helps this couple to achieve that goal. Their love even developed with a project that both families and friends helped each other. Love is willing to compromise for these two lovebirds. They are so insatiable. I could never think of coconut oil's use in the same again. It gives me a very sexy idea. Steve is so sweet. Goodness gracious, he melt me like an ice cream. Good thing today feels like summer. I could cool of myself from a cup of ice cream. This is another exciting book from the author. It took me a day to finish because I cannot put my Nook down. Disclosure: I received this book free of charge from the author.

My Review: As I say every time I review a book from Melissa Foster I love her books! She never disappoints. She develops great characters that you grow to love. Steve is a mountain man who knows the woods in and out. Shannon comes in the picture because she is in the mountains for research. She is a friendly people person and the mountain is just not for her but will Steve make her want to stay? There is a great mix of sexy and fun in the book and I really enjoyed it. It can be read alone but characters from the other Braden books do make appearances. The book lets you know who they are so you are not left in the dark. It was another great read!

This book focuses on Steve Johnson and Shannon Braden. Shannon is back in Colorado in the mountains doing another fox research trip. but also a research trip of the heart as she wants to see if there could be anything between her and Steve who she meet during her first research trip and at her cousins wedding. Shannon is a very talkative, sweet and mad for Steve. Steve is a true mountain man who loves nature and quite happy living in the hills away from the hubbub of town. He doesn't deny there is spark between them both but he is not the relationship type of guy. But oh my when he sees the light they are great together. As with every book I have read the characters in this story are true and genuine, not to mention hot! i honestly don't know how Melissa does it. Crushing on Love is book 4 in the Love in Bloom, The Bradens of Peaceful Harbor, but as usual it can be easily read as a stand alone book, but you will get hooked and want to read everything Melissa has written. Trust me! 5 stars

WOW! That is the one word I would use to describe the feeling of finishing this book. The story is great and the characters are amazing! With every Melissa Foster book I read I become a bigger fan! Shannon is a strong, fun and charismatic character. If I had to sum her up in one word I would use “Flirty”, but not in a over the top way. Although it was Steve who stole my heart in this story. He is a passionate and rugged character, which happens to be exactly what I like. This story was right on point, hot, steamy and absolutely perfect! Crushing On Love is the fourth book in The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor series. However this book can easily be read as a standalone. Although I know you will probably want to read them all.

Grizz and Butterfly have an amazing story! Steve is a mountain man who wants his own time and space, while Shannon is an internet savvy people person. Yet they both have a deep love for nature and a need to make the world a better place. Shannon came back to Colorado in part because of the flirtation between herself and Steve, but is a flirtation enough? When Steve tries to stop the sale of a ranch to a development company, he needs all the help he can get, including Shannon's help to raise funds. They grow closer together as they get closer to raising the funds that they need. But will they make a relationship work when their lives are so different?

Review: Disclaimer: I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own. Melissa Foster did it again! She made me smile, laugh, cry, and fall in love again. Crushing on Love is such a sweet book. It is one of those book that is very light and easy to read. Melissa is truly talented in creating a set of diverse characters, which complements one another. In this novel, we have Shannon who is a people person, likes to socialize with others. Generally, an extrovert. While Steve is an introvert. He is very reserve and loves living alone away from other people. And I love how despite their difference Melissa made them work in the end. This book shows us how loving a person can change who we are. In addition, I enjoyed every character and their dynamics with one another. A particular scene which showcase this is when Steve was learning to dance for Shannon. It was so funny and I love how they banter and yet care for one another. With that I also love how the author showcased the importance of family in this book, since it is the primary vital cell of society. Furthermore, though the plot is predictable, the story itself does not seem far fetched. I know some couples also deals with the problem Shannon and Steve has. Long distance relationships do happen and it can make or break a relationship. "Love is about discovering underlying truths. It is about caring enough to put yourself last and wanting to be with them at their ugliest times as well as their most beautiful." To end, can I just blabber on how amazing Steve or Grizz is? Thank you Melissa for creating another book boyfriend! He is just thoughtful, sexy, and kind. I love how he is willing to change his life drastically for Shannon. I like how he was so concerned about Shannon safety that he put glass jars with fireflies to light up the the path to her driveway so that she will get home safely. I also would like to commend the author for highlighting a very important issue, which is taking care of our environment. Nowadays, forest are getting balder due to the greediness of people and we have to be aware of this news and take some actions.

Sitting down and curling up with a copy of one of Melissa's books is always one of my favorite things to do! I couldn't wait to jump in and discover Shannon and Steve's story. As written, this pair couldn't be more different. Shannon is a city girl with lots of ideas while Steve is more of an outdoors-y, keep-to-himself kind of guy. She does love to escape from her city life to the woods which aids in the connection between the two. They have been dancing for a while but it isn't clear which one needs to take lead. Shannon doesn't want to sacrifice her close relationship with her family by moving into the confines of the mountains but she also wants to pursue a relationship to fill her heart. Steve is set in his ways and doesn't plan on leaving his mountain retreat -- even if that means he has to sacrifice finding a love and a life with Shannon. I believe that the setting of the mountains provided a more tranquil setting for the love story between the covers of Crushing on Love. It builds such a real and intense feeling when these two are together. Seriously, the intensity was so powerful that it had me practically climbing the walls!! It's another Melissa Foster creation that you are sure to love and one that will make you anxious for the next! I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.

4.5 Stars The queen of small town contemporary romance has done it again! Steve Johnson and Shannon Braden are a match made in heaven, or a match made in Peaceful Harbor. Can Jade's brother make it work with a Braden? Who are we kidding? It's a perfect match, but like any Melissa Foster book our couple will have to work for to get their happy ending. Crushing on Love definitely hits the marks for sweet and swoon-worthy, especially with mountain man Steve. Quiet, isolated, and trying not to fall for Shannon. Can he stay away or will he be drawn to her charming ways? Melissa writes books that have so much heart - she gives us more from families that we love and builds relationships in such a seamless way. I absolutely adore her writing from beginning to end. Crushing on Love is another great read from Melissa Foster.

Having read the previous books in this series, I was eager to read Shannon's story. She had come across as a free bird and the hint towards her romance brewing with a reclusive ranger had me itching to get my hands on her story. With Crushing on Love, Melissa gave me Shannon's story and I am so happy to say that I enjoyed it thoroughly. In this book, we meet the carefree and bubbly Shannon Braden who falls for the reclusive ranger Steve. There are sparks and chemistry between them but each has their own set of insecurities and doubts about commitment. Melissa Foster, as is her style, gives us a full of flavour romance with two strong characters, some spicy moments, a boisterous family, lots of entertainment and a happily-ever-after. I enjoyed meeting the Braden clan again and it was such fun watching my favourite pairs from the previous books living happily. Shannon and Steve are characters that were poles apart in everything right from their nature to their ambition for the future but as is universally true, Love conquered all for them and their journey had me sitting glued to my seat right till the end. I enjoyed each second of the book. The only thing that somewhat confused me was the fact that at first it was Steve who was unsure of committing and was always warning Shannon of not getting attached but then suddenly she took on his cautionary role and left her ready for anything to save her love role which felt out of flow and had me rethinking everything. While Crushing on Love is part of a series but still it can be read as a standalone. All in all, I enjoyed reading Crushing on Love and love this series. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all adult lovers of romance. I look forward to reading more in this series and others by Melissa Foster.

Melissa Foster does not disappoint in Crushing on Love. From the setting to the characters, I was enthralled with the story and not just because I love the way Foster writes. I was drawn to the people in the story and to the setting. Crushing on Love is set in the Colorado mountains. While I live in the mountains, I don't live in mountains like these. I am absolutely enthralled by the setting and the wildlife in the mountains. I am the same in real life. I love the mountains. I moved to live in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I also love the wildlife around this area. I have yet to see elk but they are here. To have a book that is wrapped around a ranger and wildlife specialist and a wildlife researcher is like a dream come true to me. Then, throw in the characters that are at the center of Foster's Crushing on Love - Steve Johnson and Shannon Braden. Steve is a man that only wants a long term relationship. He isn't ready to take a chance on Shannon as he figures the relationship has an expiration date as she will leave the area and go back to her life in Maryland. Shannon is a woman who knows what she wants. All kinds of men are thrown in her path but she is drawn only to Steve. She just has to figure out how to make Steve see that the two of them is a good thing. I strongly recommend Melissa Foster's Crushing on Love. The story woven in the mountains of Colorado will hold your attention and leave you wanting more. I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.

Shannon Braden leaves her home in Peaceful Habor to return to the Colorado Mountains after accepting a research project to study foxes, with hopes of connecting with Steve Johnson. Steve, a ranger and wildlife consultant, who loves being on his own surrounded by nature and away from the noise, crowds, busy life, and social media. As much he desires to cave in to his feelings and start a relationship with Shannon, he knows that he can't do casual relationships and that living a solitary life in the mountains would be near impossible for her. Shannon puts her heart on the line, letting Steve know she is there because of him and that she wants to give them a go. There is nothing worse than entering a relationship that has an expiry date, especially when feelings are mounting hard and fast. A passion to conserve a piece of Colorado from mainland development, bring out the best in both Shannon and Steve and shows what could be of them should they allow themselves to grow. This is a great tale reminding us that we are the masters of our own lives, where we should always be open to follow wherever of lives and heart leads.

Crushing On Love is the sweetest love story so far of all the Braden Novels. Steve and Shannon's journey to their HEA wasn't full of troubles or heartache but it did have its own kind of hurdles that just seemed to suit this couple. From the very beginning sparks just flew between these two, and you know what they say "opposites attract", Melissa Foster really proves that in this very sweet romantic read. Every Braden book so far has been wrote in such a unique way that suits the main characters and this one was no different, it made reading it that bit more special. Shannon is a very happy upbeat kind of character to Steve's shy mountain man like personality but OMG it totally works for them. It has amazing passion and the chemistry is off the wall HOT. Crushing On Love is another massive HIT for this amazingly talented author that is Melissa Foster, and a great addition to the Love In Bloom Series! Bonus too is you get to catch up with all your favourites from The Braden's and more!!

This is a delightful second chance romance where a past family feud and magnetic attraction vie for supremacy and resistance is tested to the limits. The hero is Steven Johnson, a ranger and wildlife consultant happily living in splendid isolation in his beloved Colorado Mountains. Well, he was living their happily until he started really missing Shannon Braden who had been for a quick visit to her home, interrupting her stay in the cabin next to his which was her base whilst carrying out research into wild foxed living in the area. This is a heartwarming romance where knowing the heroine is only staying for a short time gives the couple the option of ignoring their mutual attraction or acting on it and making the most of their limited time together. In this case Steve is wary of acting on his feelings because of this and suspects only more heartbreak will ensue if they get closer. However his heart is hers and resistance is futile - especially as she's certainly not as reticent about their relationship. Seeking additional ways to help raise the requisite funding and support to prevent developers purchasing and building on a ranch which abuts the national park has the couple working closely together and, as they get to know each other better, their attraction also grows. Will they save the ranch? Will their love find a way to bring them together? You'll just have to read it yourself to find out what happens! This is the first book in this series that I've read so I can definitely confirm that it works well as a standalone. The characters are well developed, there is plenty of angst and turmoil and the author brings the characters to life, making it easy to empathise and relate to them, their attitudes and behaviour. The plot has many twists and turns where you're not quite sure how things will go - and sometimes what happens surprises you, making it a thoroughly engaging read and one I have no hesitation in highly recommending. I'll definitely be looking out for more by this author in future, including other titles from this series! Many thanks to the author, publisher and Xpresso Book Tours for gifting a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
