There's a LOT to Like in This One

Usually, with these DAW anthologies, it's best to take them a few stories at a time.

But, being the Lovecraft Lover that I am, I sat down on a rainy Sunday, intending to read the first three or four stories, but ending up reading the entire book on one marathon session. There are one or two duds along the way, but heck, any anthology or SF magazine will offer those from time to time, so it's not a big deal.

Overall, the anthology is excellent, and a cut above DAW's usual anthology. (And the usual anthology is well-worth reading, don't get me wrong!)

I'm a huge Lovecraft fan and was excited to see this. However, I was hugely disappointed with this book. The stories were boring, uninteresting and/or made no sense. I did read the whole thing, but can't really say I enjoyed any of the stories. If you're a Lovecraft fan and want to read about Cthulu and the Old Ones, stick with the original stories or ones by Derleth and other contemporary writers of Lovecraft's age. Modern writers just don't get it.

    Pretty good

I recently finished this, after comparing it to lovecraft's style i found it similar, not too similar though. But all in all i enjoyed it.

    The stars are right.

A good take on the mythos. Its good to see authors still embracing H.P. Lovecraft's writing and adding to the wide world of Cthulhu. Mythos fans should enjoy this and new readers will enjoy the cosmic horrors inside.
