Overview

There is a fundamental opportunity for happiness right within our reach, yet we usually miss it—ironically while we are caught up in attempts to escape pain and suffering. Drawn from traditional Buddhist wisdom, Pema Chödrön’s radical and compassionate advice for what to do when things fall apart in our lives goes against the grain of our usual habits and expectations. There is only one approach to suffering that is of lasting benefit, Pema teaches, and that approach involves moving toward painful situations with friendliness and curiosity, relaxing into the essential groundlessness of our entire situation. It is there, in the midst of chaos, that we can discover the truth and love that are indestructible.

Included in the book are:

• Ways to use painful emotions to cultivate wisdom, compassion, and courage

• Methods of communicating that lead to openness and true intimacy with others

• Practices for reversing negative habitual patterns

• Techniques for working with chaotic situations

• Tools for cultivating compassionate, energetic social action

Public Enemy Number 1. By &#167&#1108&#1026 (Seth)<p> Isaac put his ear against the door he saw Brawny (Ben) walk into. There was a slight humming noise then silence. Isaac sh<_>ot the lock to the door of with his silenced pi<_>stol and entered wit his gun raised. He found himself in a room with a bookshelf, flowery wallpaper, a AC, and a rusty old sink. He looked around but nobody was there.<br> Isaac crossed the room to the AC and fliped the lid up. Underneath was a set of numbers and symbols like; &star &starf &block and others.<br> He shined his FPL on the key pad and found only three numbers pressed.<br> "Wat the heck," he muttered as he looked at the simple combo, "A third grader could figure this out." He continued as he pressed the numbers.<p> Ben and Alex entered the HQ and handed the laptop with the videos of the crash to Commander Johnson, a short man about five foot four with bl<_>onde hair, hazel eyes, and a scar running down his jaw.<br> "We got the video," Ben told Johnson, "but all the important parts are just static."<br> "Well at least your here," said Johnson as he set the laptop down "youve saved me the pain of finding you." He continued as he pulled his pi<_>stol out and sh<_>ot Alex in the gut.<p> Isaac walked through the secret tunnel into a room full of computers. The walls of the room were painted midnight black, and the tiles on the ground were dark blue. There were around six rows of desks with computers and someone at each computer typing. Then Isaac noticed someone else. His old partner and best friend, Commander Johnson.<br> Isaac was angry at first and got ready to shoot Johnson for betraying him, when he saw Johnson pump lead into Alex's gut. He watched as Johnson threw a gr<_>enade behind him, blowing up all the computers and killing nost of the peiple at them.<p> Ben reacted immediatly and rolled behind a desk. There was a roar and then flames everywhere making his vision, of the traitor Johnson, go black for a few seconds before clearing. His head throbbed and his ears rang as he sat up to see the only two other people alive, Johnson, and some other guy. Ben took aim and sh<_>ot Johnson in the back, and was switching aim when his head exploded from the bu<_>llet Isaac sh<_>ot.<p> Isaac scrambled out of the room and down the hallway to the elevator. He pushed the parking garage button and went down to get into his car. When the elevator doors dinged open, Isaac sprinted for his police car, got in and locked the door. Isaac sat there for several minutes trying to collect himself. When he was finally ready, he started the car and strted pulling out of the parking space. Before he got anywhere, there was a bang and many something's hit him in the side of the head ki<_>lling him instatly. Had someone been there they would have heard the loud crack of a sh<_>otgun that started it all, and had someone been there they would have noticed a strange man dressed in black, get into his car and drive off.<p> Thats the end for now. When there is another competition i will start on part two at the next result. ~&#167&#1108&#1026 [Seth]
