Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Booklist says of Golden Tales: "...Delacre weaves in contextual introductions and historical afterwords throughout. Her retellings are done in a clear and confident voice and are accompanied by her robust, colorful oil paintings." School Library Journal says of The Bossy Gallito: "...the text reads just as well in English as it does in Spanish....the mixed-media illustrations are intriguing...."
Criticas
Gr 5-8-Using a large family dinner as a gathering point, extended family members from Argentina, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Peru, and Mexico share stories from their childhood. Young Carmen Teresa records their recollections in her journal, which turns into this book. Food, traditions, and the warmth of human connections are celebrated in this well-translated, well-illustrated exercise in recounting family stories. A perfect pattern book to inspire students to create their own journals containing tales from their lives.
