Cultivating Hopeby Linda K Hubalek
This second book in the Planting Dreams series portrays Swedish immigrant Charlotts Johnson as she and her husband build a farmstead on the Kansas prairie. This family faced countless challenges as they homesteaded on America's Grat Plains during the 1800s. Years of hard work develop the land and improve the quality of life for her family-but not without a price.

Reading the foreword, this book series is based on the author's own Swedish immigrant family. What a tough life to start from scratch out on the prairie. And to face problems with nature trying to farm, let alone losing children... Several tears of my own were shed along with the main character when I read about what life dished out for her.
