Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer: Alan G. Micco, MD(Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine)
Description: This is the fifth edition of a well-regarded textbook in otolaryngology. The previous edition was published in 2005.
Purpose: This update was written in response to the vast growth of knowledge and technology in this field. This book aims to provide a comprehensive, yet concise, review of the specialty, while covering all of the latest developments. The editors and authors meet these worthy objectives.
Audience: The book is intended primarily for otolaryngology residents and practicing otolaryngologists. All of the editors and authors are recognized experts in the field.
Features: It nicely covers all subject areas in otolaryngology, as well as the important basic science elements key to this field. Every chapter begins with key points and a "most relevant" reading list. This edition comes with access to an online version that includes videos and important aspects of ACGME key indicator cases, which is a big benefit for residents in this field.
Assessment: Once again, this book has set the standard for comprehensive textbooks in otolaryngology, and this update covers new developments in the field. The addition of the online videos, images, and references solidifies its standing as one of the classic comprehensive textbooks in this specialty.
