The Cure for Alcoholism delivers exactly what millions of alcoholics and families of alcoholics have been hoping for: a painless, dignified and medically proven cure for their addictions. Backed by more than 70 clinical trials and research that extends back to 1964, the Sinclair Method deploys an opiate-blocking medication in a very specific way-in combination with ongoing drinking-to extinguish the addictive "software" in the brain. The de-addiction process literally rolls back the addictive mechanism in the ...

"Must have" for alcoholics and their loved ones

5.0 out of 5 stars "Must have" for alcoholics and their loved ones., March 21, 2009
By Robert Rapplean (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)

Having spent many years researching the science and culture behind alcohol treatment, I believe I am well qualified to say that this book contains the most critical information available for anyone that has to deal with alcohol addiction, personally or indirectly.

This book is an extremely thorough examination of the medical facts and cultural biases that surround a shockingly effective treatment for something that most people believe cannot be cured. It describes the history behind the search for the cure, the scientific basis for it, and full details on how the cure can be implemented. It also describes why you are not likely to ever hear of this treatment from anyone whose income or ego relies upon the treatment of alcoholism.

Ironically, the one shortcoming of the treatment described is that it's cheap and easy. In a world where treatments for alcoholism are graded based on how grueling and willpower-intensive they are, this treatment totally falls flat. If you're looking to have yourself crucified and tortured, there are plenty of other treatments that will do the job. If you just want to stop craving alcohol, then this is your book.

    - Robert Rapplean, primary researcher for Wikipedia article on alcoholism

This Book Does Exactly What it Says

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. This book is the exception that proves the rule. Based on the sound scientific principle of pharmacological extinction, Eskapa sets out the method discovered by Dr. Sinclair, who now practices in Finland. The twelve-steppers no doubt will be threatened and hostile to any expert who posits that alcohol addiction can be "cured" and that one may even choose moderation. They will be still more appalled that one must actually continue drinking for a time for the cure to be effective. Beware criticism of this book or the Sinclair Method. Critics cite clinical trials that show the medication the method uses is not effective for subjects attempting to abstain from alcohol. Many, many more clinical trials report astounding success at moderation or eventual abstention when the subjects adhere to the method in this book (i.e. drinking as part of the cure). IT WORKS. Buy an extra copy for your family m.d., and ask her to start w/ the chapter for medical professionals.
