This cozy had everything I enjoy in a mystery: Cats, Librarians, small town life and lifetime friendships. Read the other reviews for the synopsis, I'll tell you about the best reasons to add this book to your collection. The characters are captivating, funny, serious, loyal. There are passages that are laugh out loud funny. Small town life is perfectly captured (I'd love to live there). Even though the cats supposedly have magical qualities, they display very realistic cat behavior that delights every cat lover. A fun, fast read that leaves you wanting the second book soon!

I was enthralled...I thought I knew who the murderer was about 3 chapters in, and then I changed my mind three times before the end. I love to read books that make the story come alive in my mind and this author has that talent.

I started this book after seeing that another title I wanted had not been released yet. What a find! I really like this author. Love the story line of the cats and their magical abilities. Some may be put off but do not judge in advance. Pleasant reading and you will get the next "Slight of Paw". OK that review is done now where did my cat go? Is that him meowing in the closet? But how did he...

Her boyfriend leaves Boston for two weeks without her only to return married. He informs her she is not spontaneous enough for him. Angry and hurt, Kathleen Paulson leaves her home and job to move to Mayville Heights, Minnesota where she is hired to oversee the renovation of the library. The townsfolk welcome her and Kathleen makes plenty of new friends; especially two stray cats, catnip addict Owen and Barry Manilow fan Hercules. Her only problem is that contractor Will Redfern has the knack of vanishing when needed. Kathleen goes to the Stratton Theatre where she finds the body of guest conductor Gregor Easton on the piano seat. He died from a blow to the head. The lead detective makes Kathleen feel she is a suspect in the homicide case. So she decides not to wait for this idiot to continue to target her; she investigates the murder. She has unusual helpers including her new feline friends who appear and disappear as if they walk through walls and any solid surface. Her allies give her clues, but they remain enigmatic as she struggles to figure out who killed Easton before the cop busts her. Curiosity Thrilled the Cat is a whimsical charming cat caper starring a determined intrepid amateur sleuth and two magical cats who affirm WC Fields' comment on never performing with animals as they steal the show; except in this case Kathleen needs their help. Readers will appreciate this fun murder mystery as the librarian and her magical meows seek who killed the quiet artist before that insistent cop arrests Kathleen. Harriet Klausner

This book was a delight to read, from beginning to end. Sofie Kelly has come up with a winning formula, in this first book in what promises to be a great cozy mystery series. Her protagonist, Kathleen Paulson, has rescued a couple of unusual cats from a nearby feral colony. However, it quickly becomes clear to Kathleen that her cats seem to have some unusual powers--or is she imagining things? Cats can't go through solid doors or vanish from sight magically--or can they? Owen and Hercules, the cats in question, provide a lot of humor in the plot line. The scene where the fussy library patron and guest artist at the Stratton Theatre, Gregor Easton, is giving Kathleen a hard time, and suddenly Kathleen's cat Owen appears on Gregor's head, is hilarious, although it causes Kathleen chagrin. Later, she discovers Gregor's dead body and is considered a suspect in the suspicious death. To clear her name, Kathleen must find out who had the strongest motive to kill Easton. There are engaging characters who befriend Kathleen and a possible romance with the detective Marcus Gordon, on top of the antics of Owen and Hercules, that make this a most enjoyable read. Yoga practitioners will enjoy the chapter headings, as they are all named after yoga moves, such as "Slant Flying," "Carry Tiger to Mountain," and "Repulse Monkey". Cat lovers will also appreciate the depth of information Kelly presents about feral cats, as she cleverly works the colony of feral cats into the plot line. Highly recommended.

I have been searching for a series that could captivate me the way The Cat Who mysteries had and this is it!!! The cats are wonderfully quirky and mischievous as great cats are and the heroine Kath is someone i feel like i have known my whole life she is so likeable and funny! The characters come to life as does the beauty of Mayville as magically as the cats ability to solve crimes! I couldnt put the book down and at the end i couldnt wait to start the next one!!
